Developer unveils four storeys of style NEWS

PRESTIGE is an exclusive luxury apartment development to be built over four levels in the waterfront suburb of South Perth. Developer DTZ says each apartment will consist of 275sqm of living space, an entry hall, spacious open-plan areas and riverside alfresco terrace. There are also three huge bedrooms, each with ensuite, a study, media lounge and powder room. Each apartment will offer three fully secure undercover car bays and ground floor storage. Don’t be paralysed by a bout of buyer FOMO HOME BUYERS in WA are paralysed by fear when it comes to finding their dream property due to the “fear of missing out” phenomenon (FOMO). According to new research released by realestate.com.au, FOMO is a consumer behaviour that causes paralysis in buyers who are overcome by anxiety, believing there is a better property out there. The results show FOMO is reaching epic proportions among home buyers, with 85 per cent of potential property buyers in WA inspecting numerous properties and spending exhaustive amounts of time researching them. This is evidenced by the fact over half (56 per cent) of those currently on the hunt for a property have been actively looking for six months, with 15 per cent searching for more than a year.

The research showed that home hunters in WA and SA spent an average 7.8 months looking for their next home, compared with the national average of 6.5. Consumer behaviour expert Dr Chris Hodkinson said a certain level of FOMO is expected when it comes to buying a new home, however the figures suggest FOMO is causing excessive worry with some homebuyers, who are unable to make a decision. “Interestingly, FOMO is not just restricted to property decisions, it can affect people socially, professionally and even romantically, with sufferers experiencing symptoms of FOMO when deciding what to do on a Saturday night, through to deciding whether or not to go on a date,” he said.

Dr Hodkinson said sufferers that experience a heightened level of FOMO used two or more websites to search for properties, further exacerbating their condition. Even more concerning is that 92 per cent of property seekers spend over a day a month (up to 25 hours) researching potential homes online and more than 80 per cent of Australians visit up to four properties a week. Realestate.com.au group manager for consumer marketing Henry Ruiz acknowledged the FOMO phenomenon could be an issue for property seekers. “We identified a need to give property seekers confidence and therefore minimise their experience of FOMO by offering a website that has more property listings than any other property portal in Australia,’’ he said.
