RESIDENTIAL SOUTH, the youngest real estate magazine in the Community Newspaper Group stable, celebrates its first birthday this week. The past year has been an incredible journey. From its launch on May 5 last year, Residential South has set new standards for buying and selling real estate south of the river and proven to be a ‘must read’ for homebuyers. It was launched in a difficult year for real estate. As the global financial crisis took hold, listings and sales dried up. Mortgages became harder to obtain, and selling advertising space to struggling clients was tough. But those who stuck with us through the tough times have now seen a major turnaround. Since Christmas, the market has improved in leaps and bounds. Initially, it was first-home buyers who led the revival. Since then, upgraders and investors have returned, confirming strong market growth and price appreciation across a broad spectrum.
