Perth housing market on rise New figures reveal a better year for Perth property. By CARMELLE WILKINSON

By TANYA MACNAUGHTON STOCKLAND has launched its latest summer retail campaign, designed for anyone who made a New Year’s resolution to build their dream home. The Make Your Move Now campaign runs for six weeks and includes Newhaven in Piara Waters, Settlers Hills in Baldivis, Corimbia in Landsdale and South Beach near Fremantle. Developed in partnership with 20 of the State’s top residential builders, the campaign includes 24 home-and-land packages, starting from as low as $308,000, and features a ‘builder bonus’ incentive worth thousands of dollars of extra value,
ranging from facade upgrades to airconditioning and a variety of the latest household appliances. There is also a $10,000 moving bonus in the form of a prepaid Visa gift card, and half the normal land deposit required for buyers choosing to finance through Stockland Home Finance. Stockland WA state sales manager Nick Sykes said the offer was outstanding value and they were anticipating it to be incredibly popular with people who had been considering building. “Now is the time, especially with the $10,000 prepaid Visa card, the builder’s
bonus, the half-price deposit opportunity and the additional great offers which are included in this summer promotion,” Mr Sykes said. “My advice to Western Australians who are considering making a move is to visit the fantastic communities involved in this campaign and have a look at the huge range of affordable homes and land options available while there is still availability.” Stockland’s Make Your Move Now campaign continues until Sunday, February 20. THE Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) WA says current ABS Housing Finance figures are further evidence of an imminent property market recovery. The ABS figures show actual housing finance commitments in WA were up 11.6 per cent in November 2010 compared with October. “This lift in financing commitments is on top of recent news that building approvals increased in WA for the third consecutive month in November 2010,” UDIA CEO Debra Goostrey said. “With financing and approvals starting to show positive signs after the downturn earlier in 2010 we are confident that 2011 is the start of a better year for property. “While there are still plenty of established homes on the market, the land market has remained steady throughout the year and there really are some good deals out there for people considering purchasing,” Ms Goostrey said: “If you are thinking about buying – now is a good time.” ■
