Period perfection with a modern twist Antique chandeliers and hand-carved door handles grace this home, writes JANE EVANS WHEN a rare and large block complete with a 1940s dwelling became available on Forrest Street, an inspired couple saw an opportunity to build a stately home better suited to the streetscape. The result of their grand vision, with its sweeping verandahs, cast iron lacework and prominent turret, would appear circa 1900s, perhaps even earlier.
