Officially launched in October 2010, Lynn Steenholdt Residential specialises predominantly in the western suburbs and along Perth’s coastal strip – both north and south. Lynn started her career with the real estate industry in 1977 after completing her Real Estate & Business Agent’s Licence at Perth Technical College. After running a successful agency with her partner south of the river in Attadale until 1992, Lynn decided to retire from the industry and spend more time with her family. “By this stage I was living in the western suburbs and my children were attending schools in the area. Throughout this time I kept abreast with the real estate industry managing properties for family members,’’ she said.

Q: I’m a first-home buyer and only have about $300,000 to spend on a unit, and everything I’ve seen has required me to sacrifice at least one of the features I’m looking for.The features I’m juggling include a recent renovation, an outdoor area, a small block, or a good location. Which do you think would be the best to forego? A: The best thing to forego would be its condition as this is something you can actually improve yourself. In fact, if you buy something that is poorly presented you can usually add $20,000 to its value simply by giving it a good scrub and maybe a paint. Next thing I would give up is the small block – as long as it is well maintained a larger block can still be quite appealing. In this climate I believe an outdoor area is important.Also I wouldn’t recommend buying a unit that’s under about 40sqm and never compromise on location. Q: I’m looking to purchase an investment property and have heard you can achieve huge
