THE FIRST TRULY BLIGHT RESISTANT POTATO This is the potato we Irish gardeners have waited for since the famine, the first truly blight resistant varieties of potatoes. For over 50 years the Savari family in Hungary have been breeding blight and virus resistant varieties of potatoes. The newly released varieties of Sarpo Mira and Axona have unprecedented levels of blight resistance without the necessity of chemical sprays. Sarpo is the first variety to score 9 out of 9 in commercial evaluations against blight. The Savari trust, set up at University Farm Wales, Bangor, under the direction of Dr David Shaw, an acknowledged world blight expert who has worked on fungal disease for over 35, years have trialed and developed these potatoes for the Irish and British growers. Available exclusively from Thompson & Morgan @ Mr Middleton Garden Shop.

RASPBERRY BLACK JEWEL
Neither a raspberry nor blackberry, but a totally distinct species from the forests of North America. Think of those glinting pick ‘n’ mix sweets of childhood and magically turn them into a real-life berry, this would be it. A flavour like a bramble jelly laced with red raspberry cordial! Jewel has unique colour like no other raspberry; almost purple-black fruits which have a special perfumed taste and blush-white canes which make it stand out from all other varieties. Fruits late summer.
