Thomas Jefferson was born on April 13, 1743 And had 3 brothers and 6 sisters. He was the oldest boy but had two older sisters.

Thomas started going to a boarding school at the age 9 learning classical languages.

When Thomas was just a young boy about 14 years of age his father passed away so he was the man of the house.

Later on he enrolled himself in to the collage William and Mary. He took many different classes. Science, math, rhetoric, philosophy, literature.

Later on in his life time he and 4 other men wrote the Declaration of Independence. This was the document that started our country.

In 1801 He later became rd the 3 president of the United States. It was a close call because Burr had 73 votes and so did Jefferson. Then the House of Representatives elected Jefferson.

Now being president he made a big purchase and bought the Louisiana territory. So he could make the United States bigger.

By 1804 he was elected nd for his 2 term, there were more issues with France and Britain.

On March 4, 1809 Jefferson decided to leave office. He served a full two terms. He retired to his home in Monticello.

July 4, 1826 was a very sad day for the Jefferson. That day is when Thomas Jefferson died. “I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it.” – Thomas Jefferson
