STAGES OF THE LIFE CYCLE Tadpole

STAGES OF THE LIFE CYCLE Froglet

1

STAGE ONE: EGG The first stage is the egg stage.Eggs are usually laid in or near water. A frog can lay thousands of eggs at once the eggs are laid in a large groups. They are covered in jelly which makes them slippery the jelly protects them from other animals eating the eggs. In many species of frogs the adult leaves the egg to develop with no further care. But in a few species parents remain with the egg to look after them as they develop.

2

STAGE TWO: TADPOLE

The second stage is the tadpole. A

tadpole hatches from the egg. The tadpole breathes using gills and moves like a fish. It uses its long tail to swim. Tadpoles eat tiny water plants.

3

STAGE THREE: FROLET Soon the tadpole becomes a froglet. it breathes with lungs its gills disappear. The froglet swims to the top of the water to breath air. The froglet uses the nutrients stored in its tail as food so until its tail is completely gone it doesn't need anything else to eat.

4

STAGE FOUR: FROG The last stage is the adult sage. Can leave the water now and live on land. It eats insects worms and snails. Mother frogs return to the water to lay eggs.

FROG ADAPTATION

How a Frog Protects Itself As results frogs have evolved some very useful traits that allows them to survive. Many frog species that reside in the rainforests of Americas secrete toxins through their skin. Some toxins make the frog taste really bad, while others can cause paralysis (is the loss of a muscle function in a part of your body), nausea (upset stomach) and swelling(bump). The alkaloid toxin secrete by the golden poison frog is regarded as one of most-fatal poisons in the world.

Where Frogs Live

Frogs can be found at the arctic circle, deserts, tropical rainforests and practically every were in between.
