Letter from the Editors We chose Youth vs Adults because it is shows almost a story that you might or might not see in today's world. That's why chose that article to let you guys be informed on what is happening around the United States today in our ever changing world. It was a really hard process to be honest, we had to visit many locations mostly in big cities where we saw the youth stand in plain sight. Flappers were the majority of it. Flappers are what you would call wild girls or party girls. They were the easiest i should say to find since you find them around every corner.

But that's not all we wanted to feature. Everyone knows about flappers but what about the speakeasies? This was undoubtedly that hardest part of the article and the most dangerous. In order to really tell you what was happening we had to go right to the source of it, and so we did.

We chose these to show you how and why america is changing for the better good or bad. The editors are very grateful for these questions and we love the support for our magazine.

Youth Today

Dear editor, I am writing to you today to talk about youth and culture. Today’s youth has evolved a ton in the past few years. The slang has changed, the clothing has changed, and the overall attitude of the youngins has changed a ton! Recently, a new group of daring women have been popping up all over. These women are being called “Flappers”. They’ve been attending speak-easies, speaking out, smoking in public, and even showing more skin!

Nowadays, fashion has been changing. Women are way more daring going about how they dress! They are wearing their skirts higher and they seem to be getting more and more mannish. The youth of america is becoming more and more rebellious. The current norms are being shattered. The youth is doing things that we never would have thought to do. Women are fighting for rights and realizing that they can do things as well as men.

Sincerely, Maliq Mosley

Wets Vs Dry Dear Editor, Prohibition, what a horrible thing. The peoples intentions were all good but I don't think noone would have ever have thought alcohol has such a widespread effect across America. It seems as if the world has completely turned upside down now, almost every single person has been affected by alcohol is some way. If you directly havent been to one of those nasty speakeasy someone in your family probably has. My little niece barg showed up at my house the other day with the horad poisons sent of moonshine reeking from her poor little mouth. He would have been angry with her but it seem he is not in favor of prohibition. This idea made me think, was there really less violence before prohibition. Yes, I know for a fact that the streets didn't used to be filled with sounds of bullets flying from their guns. The number of gangs was now throw the roof, it wasn't until after prohibition that so many were involved with crime -Sincerely, Jared Kula

Dear Editor, Hello, my name is Robert. I wanted to talk about the new prohibition is causing uproar in New York & America itself. I am a Dry as you may call me, i support the new law banning alcohol. It is quite difficult getting a hold of all those on the lam boys. But i do stand for the new act because of many reasons such as, From the current studies Fathers are spending more time at home then in bars. This is a great Plus for alcohol being illegal. Another topic i have is we need more supporters for Drys as we are being heavily outnumbered against the Wet’s who believe alcohol shouldn't be illegal which is just madness. We should patronize the 18th amendment and recruit more men to get rid of the trash Wet’s are & always will be. The government needs to help more as well. It seems they are not promoting non alcohol beverages enough as the should be doing. Less crime is also a major plus for alcohol being banned. Unfortunately their are other was of getting it as well that seem to slip through our grasp. Crime has been increasing it seems though through gang wars. just last week a gang dressed up like officers & shot up another just for liquor. But as always i will support anything the government says because it is my duty to spread the word of the good not the bad. Thank You for your time.

Sincerely, Robert (Matthew Romans)

Christianity Vs Evolution

Dear Editor,

Why is it illegal to teach the theory of evolution in classrooms? Evolution is how everything is made. In 1925 the legislature passed a law that makes the teaching of evolution illegal. If this is the case then christian religion will dominate the school system. Charles Darwin has a massive collection of evidence supporting the theory of evolution. But nobody will listen to Darwin, which is why John Scopes got arrested for teaching the theory of evolution in his classroom. The arrest of John Scopes created the largest court battle ever. It created a media circus.

Dear Editor,

Nowadays you see banners that urge people to read the bible. They are normally around intersections where Christians sell their bibles at. Along with bible concession stands, refreshments were sold every 50 yards. If you support God and Christianity, then you would believe that god created man in a single day. This means that Darwin’s theory is wrong. There is a law legislature that is being passed which will make the teaching of Evolution illegal. This law has only been passed in Tennessee but with your support, we can spread the belief of god, past the Scopes Trial and to the world!

Sincerely, Jacob Yon Sincerely, Hunter Koph

POLITICS Politics today are very complicated. There Right now, our current president is Herbert Hoover. He is a Republican, like the past two presidents, Coolidge and Harding.

Harding was an overall disliked president. He pledged about his policy to normalcy, and people liked it, but his image as a person was flawed. He was often viewed as a womanizer.

Coolidge was a different story however. He was often called “Cool Coolidge because he tried to avoid problems and he didn't speak much.

World

By Jacob Yon

We now live after the events of World War 1. The United States of America has changed accordingly, and Europe has been effected the hardest. With Germany’s recent loss in the war, they must now give their land and money as a loser’s fee. Current map drawers are redrawing the map, fitting Europe’s recent changes. The League of Nations is up and running, but our United States Senate has refused the participation into the League of Nations. The opposition was due to Article Ten, which called for war if any allies are to be attacked. The United States are looking towards Isolationism now. Presidents in the past have also thought about Isolation. George Washington in his Farewell Letter, Thomas Jefferson warned of entangling alliances, and the Monroe Doctrine.

Even with the United States insisting on Isolationism, it won’t be easy. New technology such as Steamships and telegraphs have strengthened the bonds with Europe. The U.S. is locked into a global economy and trading system. To discourage all future wars, the United States has pledged to scrap 30 warships which led to other countries limiting their navies as well. This only prevented large warships though. Inturn, Japan, Great Britain, and the United States all started to make Submarines and other small cruisers. As Germany’s economy was in horrible shape after the war, Charles Dawes created a plan. Since Germany owes 11 billion dollars to France and Great Britain, which they owe to the United States. Charles Dawes plan was to loan money to Germany which would pay off their reparation. This looped back and Germany owed the United States money. Europe praised Dawes committee as the “Saviors of Civilization.”

Society The Klan was bigger than ever now. This mixed with the fact that all those devilish menises are now marching into the north. They are no longer just hunting African Americans and slaves, but now they are hunting everyone they don't like black or white. There now going after Jews and any other ethnicity that they think will dirty there already disgusting society. Every time I see them marching down a road i'm on I am filled with terrible fear even after last year I was asked to join the klan. I believe Ku klux Klan will never do anything good or productive. they hate everyone from Europe to America it's like they feed of the fear and pain they bring others. I do not understand how they can live thru some of the things they have done. They have lynched, burned, and committed so many other hate crimes against races that have never done anything to deserve this pay they have been caused. P.14

Economy

The economy in the 1920’s is constantly changing. There has been many booms and busts. The 1920’s were the start of the economic boom. There hasn’t been a single collapse. Progress is rapid and buying is larger than ever before. Most people have some form of life insurance. Many people also used get rich quick schemes. Get rich quick schemes are basically shady people that found bad ways and often illegal ways to make money. Stocks are one form of money. On black Thursday, (0ct 24) more than 12 million shares were traded. At the end of the day, The New York Times posted that 4 billion dollars had been lost. On October 29, the stock market lost billions more. With a record of 16 million shares traded. This was the beginning of The Great Depression.

Feature Article: Out with the Old and in with the New The new generation of the 1920’s is in a way, wild. Women now can vote and dress/ act the way we want to. Flappers are young, brave women who cut their hair short, wore short, loose-fitting dresses and wear make up. Women are allowed to dress the way they pleased. Women have to change and evolve with new technology. Like the flappers, Sheiks are also different in the way they dressed and act. They are young men who slick back their hair, wear fashionable camel hair jackets, and loose flannel pants, and long raccoon coats.

Advertisements are a big part of our current age. But most aren’t as true as they claim to be. Tabloids are a new type of news paper! They have shocking stories about real life situations and sometimes spread false claims. A new form of modern music is making its way to the big cities. Its called Jazz. This new form of music was invented by black Americans in New Orleans and has slowly made its way to bigger cities north. This music is mostly accepted by the younger crowds for its uniqueness. Jazz has become so popular it's performed in luxury theatres and can last for hours at a time. Its definitely worth your dime!

Speakeasies are secret hide outs mostly founded by young adults and are used for selling illegal alcohol. This alcohol is illegal because of the 18th amendment. The alcohol they sell is not always safe and is mostly made using homemade materials. Though this won't stop young adults from getting their hands on it.

Marathon dances are a new type of dance competition that makes two couples stand for seventy eight hours without letting each other go. Once knees hit the ground it the competition is over and the winners can earn up to $3,500 each!

Sports is something new around the states. Not only are old sports becoming popular but so are new ones! These new additions to American life give people new heroes besides war. People young and old enjoy these events yearly.
