What Did Industrial Workers of the 1920s do Wrong Griffin Hart, Klein Thoensen, Ivan Nunez, Devon Starke. Period 1
Industrial workers had problems in the 1920s, they wanted better pay and less work hours. They tried many things to get this, forming Unions, presidents helping, and many other ways. There was a problem with wages falling in the 1920s, which of course made many people angry. Workers had riots which some either made people for or against the workers. Some riots were successful in closing down working areas like in 1919 still workers had riots in seven states. This eventually ended up shutting down half of America’s steel industries. While others, just made Big Bosses upset and they simply fired the original workers and hired new ones. YTt Something workers had to deal with was Ford’s assembly lines. (Work on this whoever had this).
Unions lose public support and membership. As the strikes persisted middle class american began to view unionism as a treat to their way of life. Strike related violence added to fear that radical union activity could lead to anarchy. The AFL, limited its membership by refusing to organize unskilled employees. Their average income remained well below $1,500 per year at a time when families needed more than that's not good if they have kids. Between 1920 and 1921, some 100,000 business went bankrupt. In those same year, 453,000 farmers lost their land. Unions were formed by workers to get better pay, and shorter work days. There were radical members and members who wanted to get what their goal through peace. Strikes were common, but there were also riots that destroyed buildings and shut down industries. Some people wanted Unions to stop, but many were harsh and attacked those not in the Union. Calm Union members wanted the harsh to stop, but many kept going, thinking through violence they would get their goal. Many Unions failed because bosses fired the members and hired new ones, but a few did eventually help them, but in the end, most failed.

The workers are weary every single day, they describe the manual labor as a form of slavery and that their only working there to earn a living. One worker said that there is no satisfaction in working there and it’s very repetitive. The workers everyday sweat and go though dull pain with no appreciation from their boss or the public. Over the course of the 1920’s, our nation's wealth has doubled. Citizens are getting rich everywhere you look! This is our nation’s time to shine! The presidents have given us this amazing opportunity. I think they want all to succeed and they are doing there best to get to that point. I believe that the presidents were a great help to the money making in our communities.

What Should Workers be Fighting for in 1920s? By Ivan Nunez Workers are fighting to get better wages b/c their wages are being dropped and the workers are going on strike. Workers struggled to keep the gains, they had made during World War I. Wages went up as the number of unemployed workers decrease and unions gained more clout. They reduced wages and paid less attention to employee safety. Some business tried to increase the workday to 12 hours. Workers respond by organizing and striking. When 35,000 shipyard workers were refused a wage increase, The seattle central labor council called on all city workers to walk off their jobs. Approximately 100,000 people joined the SCL general strike- a strike by workers in all industries in a region. In 1919, Union staged more than 3,600 strikes across the country creating the greatest wave of labor unrest in the nation history. One out of every 10 workers walked off the job at the some point during that year. The most controversial strike of 1919 involved the Boston police force. The police walked off their job after the city official cut their wages and refuse to negotiate with union. Union loses public support and membership.

Unions: Healthy or Deadly for America? Article written by: Griffin Hart Unions are bad news for the American people. The people in the Unions are having riots to get people to support their union, but it is making them kill others not in the Unions. People became upset with unions and wanted them to go down, they may be ways to spread communism to others. There are strikes going on, mostly by the low class and there is even Police Officers <img src="https://pics.me.me/rainbow-six-siege-in-a-nutshell-frost-r ook-pulse-doc-13524561.png" alt="Image result for rainbow 6 memes"/>going on strike. They want 8 hour work days, or even less, with higher payment. Some businesses are agreeing to do this, while others are just hiring new workers, which some Unions members are killing! While Police officers are off duty crime is increasing and people are doing whatever they want. At first people left sympathetic to them and now we need them to come back. Unions are saying they are against big boss, but their own big bosses are not seeing what they are really doing. These Unions are good intended, but the people in them means they have to stop. They are against big bosses but as I said If you can, try to convince Union members to get their boss to try to get what they want through non-violent strikes/ They go on strike and when there are working people, they are vicious to those who are working and not supporting them. The Unions may want to be fair to everyone, but that is not how it’s going. They need to be redone with a better intended purpose, I’m sure all of Americans would support them if they were not violent, wouldn’t we all just like to have our country safer?
