burger in an asian restaurant

bridgeton

task: to record my movement in chosen space. where, why and how would I move?

task: to find and reflect an intimate/interesting place in the city. what exactly makes it interesting?

task: to combine previous two projects into an urban event space.

result: a record of movement towards the burger in asian restaurant... YES, A BURGER IN ASIAN RESTAURANT... A burger in a place where you would the least expect it to be.

result: representation of bridgeton station in the East End, Glasgow. mixture of people of different social levels. indication of grotesque, which is one of the main characters of Glasgow City.

result: hot-air balloon-train-restaurant upcoming commonwealth games boosted a number of approaches and ideas that can make Glasgow interested place to visit, to celebrate and to live in. East End of Glasgow including Bridgeton is about to become one of the main host areas for the games. Thus, we need something iconic and welcoming in Bridgeton to invite and keep the people in the East End of Glasgow... Something what would increase regeneration of this area. approach: migrating industrial structure - asian restaurant, which creates temporary event space around the city wherever it lands. object’s original location would remain in Bridgeton, which would attract interest of people from other parts of the city or the enen the country.





head in the clouds task: to create a threshold which reacts to climate changes, by replacing existing window panel. result: window recess that includes seating space and reacts to humidity level in the air. the threshold would create an indoor cloud once humidity level outside increases.

passage task: to design and test structure that spans 8 meters. what are the weak points of the structure and how does it transfer the loads? result: suspension bridge that can withstand 6 500ml cans of tennents.


after quite a few failures the model is finally complete and ready to be tested
