a note

from your bulletin editor!! Hi, Superheroes! Welcome to MSJ Key Club's Spring Newsletter! I am beyond excited to be releasing this, as it's our FIRST EVER club newsletter. This month has been extremely chaotic with AP tests coming up, but I hope you all remember to take care of yourselves; it's ok to take breaks when you need them! That being said, I had so much fun editing this newsletter, and I'm really looking forward to capturing our club's best moments in future newsletters throughout the year! This club is truly my second family and home, and I hope you can become a part of it as well <3

Soaring into Service,

Jackie Wang

a note

from your president!! Hey, Key Clubbers! I hope you’re all doing well despite the hardships of the pandemic and distance learning. This school year has been everything but normal; nonetheless, it’s been amazing getting to interact with you all through service events, bondings, and other club events. Everyone’s passion for community service and Key Club is beyond inspiring, and I can’t wait to make more positive memories with all of you in the 2021-2022 term. Now, I’m super excited to announce that we have many fun events planned for this term, so I hope you’re ready! Anyways, if you have any questions about this club, or if you want someone to talk to, feel free to message me -- I’m here for you :)

love,

rayna tsai

Jackie Wang

what is your favorite key club memory? "My favorite Key Club memory would be Conclave 2021! During this event, I met many new members from multiple divisions. Even though the event was quite long, I was intrigued for the entire duration. After the election was over, the announcements of the new governors were entirely beautiful. I loved the spirit and overwhelming warmth of sincere cheers as I could imagine the feeling of a roaring crowd shouting, “Congratulations!” echo through my head. I felt like I was welcomed somewhere, and I knew my search for a place to belong was complete. I felt satisfied and whole, knowing that I had somewhere to belong and could further explore friendships while serving others. Thank you, all. :’)"

member of the month what do you love most about key club?

Allison Wang!

"What I love most about Key Club is how supportive the community is and the opportunities it gives students to explore their interests and also earn service hours. This year was the first year that I joined Key Club and, although everything was online, I still felt an overwhelming sense of acceptance of all who joined. I look forward to being able to meet everyone in person next year!"

march meeting The March general meeting, titled "March-ing Into Service" was a super fun and interactive event where our members learned about important club updates! At this meeting, we released nonexecutive officer applications and played Codenames together! Thank you to the 30 attendees who came <3

Thank you to all of the attendees who came to our April general meeting, "Just Key-ding!" We hope you all had lots of fun participating in the fun, April Fool's Day themed icebreaker. We'd like to give a special thank you to our incredible Kiwanis Advisor, Mr. Chip Koehler, for coming out to support us.

service event recap

March 14th

On March 14th, MSJ Key Club volunteers made adorable cat toys (rice socks, pom poms, and toilet paper rolls) for cats in an animal shelter! All toys were donated to Humane Society Silicon Valley. We were joined by around 30 members!

"On March 14th, from 3-4:00 PM, we held our “Care for Cats” service event, where we spent an afternoon making rice socks and toys for cats at the Humane Society Silicon Valley animal shelter. Not only that, we played an animal-themed kahoot and screenshared a cat documentary while volunteers were crafting! It was clear that everyone there had a love for animals and overall, it was extremely rewarding when our crafts were delivered. Personally, I loved the purpose behind this event, everyone enjoyed it and gave positive feedback, and we all learned something new!" -- Siran Wang, 9

banquet

end of term banquet | april 3rd "personally, i really enjoyed the end of term banquet. it gave me an opportunity to look back on past memories of the term (first ever term for me!) and i loved interacting with other key club members and bonding with them. the anonymous love box section was another part i enjoyed: it was very heartening listening to messages key members wrote to each other. i found that this meeting also enhanced my understanding of the club, because i got to see what WE, as a club had accomplished together, and it made me feel content and excited for next term :))" -- Gitali Teckchandi, 9
