MSUB hosts a ROOT SPORTS GNAC Game of the Week for the first time ever, with the Yellowjacket women hosting Western Oregon on Feb. 11, and the men being featured in a road game on Feb. 20. PORTLAND, Ore. – With the unveiling of the 2016 slate of Great Northwest Athletic Conference basketball on ROOT SPORTS, Montana State University Billings will host a game televised on the regional network for the first time ever announced the conference office on Tuesday. MSUB’s women’s basketball game at Alterowitz Gym against Western Oregon University on Feb. 11 at 7 p.m. Mountain time will be one of five regular-season men’s and women’s games showcased during this year’s GNAC Game of the Week slate. “We are ecstatic about the opportunity to host a game televised regionally on ROOT SPORTS, and we are excited to showcase both of our basketball teams this season through this incredible platform,” commented MSUB director of athletics Krista Montague. “Hosting a game that is televised regionally is a unique opportunity that our university is looking forward to taking advantage of, and we can’t wait to put our electric atmosphere here at MSUB on display throughout the Northwest.”
The women’s game against the Wolves will also be Think Pink Night at Alterowitz Gym, as the Yellowjackets show support for the fight against cancer through the annual tradition of wearing pink. “Hosting a ROOT SPORTS GNAC basketball game is an awesome opportunity for our university and basketball program,” said MSUB women’s basketball head coach Kevin Woodin. “I am confident that our school and the Billings community will be great hosts for this event, and it will allow us to showcase our great university to the entire northwest region.” MSUB’s men’s basketball team will also be featured on ROOT SPORTS, in a 10 p.m. Mountain time broadcast at Seattle Pacific University on Feb. 20. “It is always good to have a TV game, and it is a chance for good recognition for our program and our university,” said MSUB men’s basketball head coach Jamie Stevens. “It should be a fun environment in Seattle with a night game. It will be exciting for our guys to have a chance to be on television.” This is the seventh consecutive season in which the GNAC will have a presence on ROOT SPORTS, which is the premier regional sports network in the Pacific Northwest.
