Senior Jace Anderson and juniors Kendall Denham and Kamal Tall of MSUB’s men’s basketball team each earn academic all-conference honors for the 2016-17 season. PORTLAND, Ore. – Senior Jace Anderson and juniors Kendall Denham and Kamal Tall of the Montana State University Billings men’s basketball team were each named academic all-Great Northwest Athletic Conference in an announcement by the conference office on Wednesday. Anderson is one of just three players in the conference to be a three-time selection to the academic all-conference team, and Denham is one of a dozen repeat selections. “Guys like Jace, Kendall, and Kamal are what make coaching at the college level such a great experience for our coaching staff,” said MSUB head coach Jamie Stevens. “They take care of business on the court, off the court, and most importantly, in the classroom. They lead by example and I am fortunate to have a chance to be around them on a daily
basis. Jace and Kendall are great captains and all three guys will be successful in whatever they choose to do when they graduate from MSUB.” Anderson will finish his degree in finance this spring, and holds a cumulative grade point average of 3.63. Denham is an education major with a 3.28 GPA. Finishing his career this season, Anderson ranks fourth on the team with 9.7 points per game, and is one of the top 3point shooters in the conference at a mark of 40.1 percent from the arc. Anderson has totaled 640 points in his career, and is No. 6 in MSUB history with a career 3-point field-goal percentage of 42.1. Denham is averaging 8.0 points and leads the team with 67 assists in his third year playing with the Yellowjackets. He also ranks second on the team with a field-goal percentage of 47.7, and is second with 22 steals. Tall is a second-year junior with the ‘Jackets, averaging 5.8 points and 4.8 rebounds while starting all 24 games as a forward. He holds a 3.78 grade point average at MSUB while studying finance. Players must be in their second season of competition and hold a cumulative GPA above 3.2 in order to qualify for the academic all-GNAC team.
