MSUB’s men’s basketball team cruises to a 106-85 win in its first exhibition game of the 2015-16 season against the Yellowjacket Alumni Team Saturday. BILLINGS, Mont. – Former standouts from years past returned to Alterowitz Gym on Saturday, as the Montana State University Billings men’s basketball team welcomed the Yellowjacket Alumni Team and won 106-85 in the squad’s first exhibition game of the 2015-16 season. Seven Yellowjackets scored in double figures, led by Emmanuel Johnson who had 18 points and eight rebounds. Christian Evans had a double-double with a dozen points and 11 rebounds, and freshman Zack Lessinger also had double-digit rebounds with 11. Kendall Denham (13), Jordan Perry (13), Marc Matthews (12), and Jace Anderson (11) were the other Yellowjackets to score in double figures. Jerrell Crayton led the alumni team with 21 points and eight rebounds and Antoine Proctor chipped in 20. Playing for the alumni side, MSUB assistant coach Brad Schmit had 17 points, and Cameron Munoz added a dozen.
“We want to thank the alumni guys for coming back and playing,” commented MSUB head coach Jamie Stevens. “There were some really talented former players on the court, and we appreciate them coming back and giving us an exhibition game. I thought we did some good things for our first exhibition game, and we still have some things to polish. But overall we have a chance to have a nice team this year.” Former Yellowjackets who competed on Saturday included: Antoine Proctor, Anthony Proctor, Ty Elkin, Jerrell Crayton, Reece Gliko, Mark Hamilton, Mike Berta, Cameron Munoz, Buddy Windy Boy, and Joey Trottier.
