MSUB’s men’s basketball team earns 41 points in the GNAC preseason coaches’ poll and is slotted to finish in seventh place. PORTLAND, Ore. – With the 2015-16 Montana State University Billings men’s basketball season fast approaching, the Yellowjackets have been selected to finish in seventh place in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference preseason coaches’ poll released Thursday. MSU Billings wrapped up the 2014-15 season in a tie for ninth place in the conference with a record of 5-23 overall and 3-15 in GNAC contests. “The GNAC will be great, as always,” commented MSUB head coach Jamie Stevens. “I think the league will be better this year than it was last year. The polls are fun for the fans and players. With transfers, new additions, several new coaches and an entire new program, it is hard to say where we will all finish.” The ‘Jackets earned 41 points in this year’s preseason poll, matching Saint Martin’s University for seventh place among the conference’s 11 teams.
Western Washington University earned five first-place votes and 114 points to sit atop the preseason poll. The Yellowjackets return six players with experience to their roster, while welcoming in a class of five freshmen and three transfers. MSUB’s first official contest will be its annual Alumni Game, scheduled for Oct. 24 at 3 p.m. in Alterowitz Gym. MSUB will play two exhibition contests against crosstown rival Rocky Mountain College, the first coming at the Fortin Center on the RMC campus on Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. The ‘Jackets and Battlin’ Bears will meet again on Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. in Alterowitz Gym, on Eastern Montana College Throwback Night. All of MSUB’s home contests and many away contests will feature live video and statistics, available through MSUB’s Stretch Internet portal.
