Former Billings West High School star Kameron Rauch is returning to his home town after two seasons at Miles Community College to play basketball at MSUB starting next fall. BILLINGS, Mont. – Kameron Rauch, a Billings West High School graduate, is headed home to join the Montana State University Billings men’s basketball team after two seasons at Miles Community College announced head coach Jamie Stevens on Tuesday. “We are excited about getting another Billings product into our program,” said Stevens. “Kameron had a very productive two years at Miles, and we think he can step in here for us and be a factor right away in the GNAC.” Rauch is a 6-foot-5 five guard/wing combo player, who averaged 10.6 points and 5.9 rebounds per game last season as a sophomore. He started 25 games and played in 27, averaging 32.8 minutes. Rauch shot 40.5 percent from the field and also averaged 2.3 assists and 1.1 steals per game.
Rauch had a season-high of 23 points against Bismarck State last December, and recorded a pair of double-doubles in his second season with the Pioneers. “MSUB was my ultimate decision because the coaching staff is great and the team has a good reputation,” Rauch said. “I wanted to be closer to home and play in front of my family as well.” Prior to his college days, Rauch played basketball for four seasons at Billings West. “Kameron’s greatest asset will be his ability to play and guard multiple positions,” said Stevens. “He is a guy who seems to always be around the ball, and we feel like we can never have enough guys like that.” Rauch is the fifth recruit to sign with MSUB for the 2017-18 season, and is the second junior college transfer along with Daniel Shedden of Dawson CC. The incoming juniors will join Zharon Richmond, David Simental, and Kobe Terashima, who will be freshmen next fall. MSUB finished the 2016-17 season with a record of 14-15 overall, and placed sixth in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference standings at 9-11 to advance to the conference tournament.
