Introducing a pair of recruits for the 2017-18 season, MSUB’s men’s basketball head coach Jamie Stevens welcomes Billings Skyview’s Zharon Richmond and Kobe Terashima of Boise, Idaho. BILLINGS, Mont. – Introducing the first two recruits for the 2017-18 Montana State University Billings men’s basketball season on Thursday, Yellowjacket head coach Jamie Stevens announced the signing of Zharon Richmond and Kobe Terashima to letters of intent. Richmond is a local product from Billings Skyview High School, and Terashima hails from Boise, Idaho, where he attends Rocky Mountain High School. The team captain for the Falcons, Richmond was a two-year letterwinner in basketball under head coach Kevin Morales. The 6-foot-5 forward was a second-team all-state selection in his senior campaign. Richmond also competed in tennis for three seasons at Skyview under head coach Jeremy Carlson.

“Zharon comes from a winning program and his growth as a player over the last few years has been remarkable,” Stevens commented on the incoming freshman. “He has been great during the recruiting process, our current guys in the program absolutely love what he brings to the table, and our coaching staff can’t wait to work with him this fall. We are ecstatic that Zharon has chosen to stay in Billings and play at the NCAA level.” “MSUB is a school I grew up watching and attending camps at,” said Richmond. “After meeting with the coaches and team, I quickly knew that it was the right fit for me as a student and as a player.” Joining Richmond as an incoming freshman next season will be Terashima, a 6-foot-1 guard. Terashima earned three letters in basketball under head coach Dane Roy, helping the Grizzlies to a cumulative record of 66-14 in three varsity seasons. As a senior, Terashima averaged 11 points, 6.5 assists, and 6.0 rebounds per game, and helped his squad to the Idaho state title. He was named the 5A Player of the Year in the Southern Idaho Conference last winter, after earning first-team all-conference and second-team allstate honors in 2015-16. A multi-talented athlete, Terashima also earned three letters in soccer and was a second-team all-state pick on the pitch as a junior.

“First and foremost, Kobe is a winner,” said Stevens. “He led his team to the Idaho state championship at the highest level in the state, and he has great size for the point guard position. We feel like he has a chance to play significant minutes right away. We love his competitive fire, and his team-first mentality will fit in perfectly with the returners in our program. We are really looking forward to having Kobe on campus this fall.” “I chose MSUB because the environment around the campus and in the school is great,” said Terashima. “The coaches and players have treated me amazingly, and I cannot wait to get to Billings to explore and find success being a Yellowjacket.” The Yellowjackets are coming off a trip to the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Championships this season, going 14-15 overall and 9-11 in league play to finish sixth. --@MSUBSports | #JacketNation--
