In a close battle with Rocky Mountain College, the MSUB men’s golf team falls to the Battlin’ Bears 11-9 in a seasonopening Collegiate Cup match play event. BILLINGS, Mont. – Mirroring a narrow victory on Day 1, the Rocky Mountain College men’s golf team scored a one-hole win over Montana State University Billings on Day 2 to capture the Collegiate Cup 11-9 which ran Thursday at Pryor Creek Golf Club and Friday at Peter Yegen Golf Club. “Our men played strong all the way until the end,” said MSUB head coach Shawn O’Brien. “RMC capitalized on a few holes on which we did not, and that is the difference between winning and losing an event like this.” The format featured singles play action on both days, a four ball dual event on Day 1 and an alternate shot on Day 2. The Battlin’ Bears picked up the early edge as Jordy Donoven and Nathan Cachia teamed up to beat MSUB’s Connor Miele and Michael Porter in four ball on Day 1, the lone doubles event that didn’t end up even. In singles play, Miele, Porter, and Parker Bradbury each had wins for MSUB on Day 1, while Bobby Anderson, Tayler Noble, and Tyler Ordahl were victorious for the Bears. MSUB’s Scott Larson and RMC’s HoTae Kim ended up even in the rubber singles match, as RMC won the Day 1 competition.
