MSUB and Rocky clash in a special spring soccer exhibition match on Saturday evening, in a game at Daylis Stadium under the lights in Billings. BILLINGS, Mont. – Highlighting the spring soccer exhibition season, the Montana State University Billings men’s soccer team will challenge Rocky Mountain College this Saturday at Daylis Stadium in a match under the lights at 7 p.m. “We truly hope that playing this game at a neutral venue in the middle of the city under the lights will stimulate as much interest as possible in the game of soccer among the community,” commented MSUB head coach Alex Balog. “We have two quality men’s soccer teams in town, and our goal will be to show that to the community of Billings.” The Yellowjackets are coming off their first winning season since 2012, as they finished the fall in fourth place in the NCAA Division II Great Northwest Athletic Conference standings at 8-6-4 overall and 6-5-3 in conference play. The Battlin’ Bears went 17-3-4 overall and 11-1-1 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference last fall, advancing to the NAIA Championships in Delray Beach, Fla., where they lost to Missouri Valley College 3-0 on Dec. 2. Saturday’s match will be the first meeting between the crosstown teams since the spring of 2013. “This game will be our first 11 vs. 11 encounter of the spring season, and our guys will be more than up for it against our crosstown rival.”
