Garrett Love (leading the pack) placed third in the MSUB men’s cross country dual with Rocky Mountain College. Robert Peterson pushes the team across the line as the Yellowjackets claim three of the top-5 spots in the dual with Rocky Mountain College. BILLINGS, Mont. – Robert Peterson claimed his fourth title of the year with a first place result at the Yellowjacket Battlin’ Bear Dual Thursday, Oct. 15, at Riverfront Park. Peterson looked relaxed on the very familiar course in south Billings, Mont., as the senior engaged in his last event before the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Championships Oct. 24, in Bellingham, Wash. Behind Peterson’s time of 20:03, Garrett Love placed third in 20:15 with Jorey Egeland in fifth at 20:31. Matt Winter was the team’s fourth runner, placing eighth in 20:38, and Liam McKay finishing 10th completed the course in 20:46. MSU Billings and Rocky Mountain College used the race on Thursday afternoon as a tune-up in this part of the season.

“Robert Peterson looked strong and just ran a nice, controlled pace, helping his teammates stay packed up during most of the race,” MSUB head coach Dave Coppock said. “The plan was to stay in close contact with each other through 3 miles and then put the hammer down in the final mile. They ran negative splits over each mile and look to be ready for conference next week. This meet was a great way for us to get a final tune-up in before conference without having to travel. We're starting to taper off a bit and sharpen up, so people are starting to feel pretty good. I think our peak timing is just about right.” Men's 4 mile Results: 1. Robert Peterson MSUB 20:03 2.
