Mason Shoultz is named the assistant director of communications for the Yellowjackets’ athletic department announced on Thursday.

MSUB SPORTS – Mason Shoultz has been named the assistant director of communications for the Montana State University Billings athletic department announced on Thursday.

“We are excited to welcome Mason to our media relations team, and feel his skillset and experience make him a great fit to serve our student-athletes, coaches, and staff,” said MSUB director of communications Evan O’Kelly. “Mason’s expertise in a variety of areas will undoubtedly help elevate the Yellowjackets’ digital footprint and branding across a multitude of platforms.”

Shoultz has worked for STATS, LLC for the past year, managing live video footage for Major League Baseball and National Hockey League data analysis. He also served as the media relations assistant in the athletic department at the University of San Diego for one year prior to his time at STATS.

“I am excited for the opportunity to contribute to Yellowjacket Athletics and work with the fantastic student-athletes at MSUB,” Shoultz said. “The university has a great culture in its athletic department, and I am thankful to be a part of it.

My family and I couldn’t be happier to be back in Montana and the city of Billings.”

During his time with the Toreros, Shoultz served as the primary media contact for its NCAA Division I tennis programs, and assisted with gameday operations and media relations with all 15 varsity athletics programs. A native of Bigfork, Mont., Shoultz also spent one season as a media relations assistant with the San Diego Chargers in 2015.

After graduating from the University of Montana with a bachelor’s degree in journalism, Shoultz began his professional career as a photographer and videographer for the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes baseball team, a Single A short-season affiliate of the San Francisco Giants located in Keizer, Ore. Shoultz will assume his role with the Yellowjacket athletic department on July 11, and will be responsible for assisting in providing coverage for MSUB’s 15 NCAA Division II varsity athletics programs.
