More MSUB track and field records are falling at the Carroll College Open in Helena.

HELENA, Mont. – More MSU Billings track and field records fell during the second meet of the outdoor season for the Yellowjackets. MSUB was competing at the Carroll College Open on Saturday at Vigilante Stadium.

Austin Lindquist broke one of the oldest-standing MSUB men’s records in the 110 meter hurdles, overtaking a 1979 time of 15.44 set by Dan Hagerman, with a finish of 15.13.

Freshman Janessa Williams flew ahead in the triple jump by almost two feet, clearing a distance of 36 feet and 6.75 inches, besting the record set by teammate Shaniah Schwend just last week of 34 feet and 1.25 inches.

Williams, a native of Clancy Mont., was third in the triple jump and second in the 110 meter hurdles in 16.10. Schwend placed fifth in the triple jump at 35 feet and 0.5 inches, and sixth in the long jump (15 feet and 2.25 inches).

Senior Della Lyle won the women’s 5,000 meters in 18:22.39. Competing in the event for the first time in his collegiate career, senior Robert Peterson won the 800 meters in 1:55.32, narrowly missing the MSUB record set by Drew Galahan in 2014 of 1:55.09.

Nels Flanagan won the men’s discus with a throw of 152 feet 9 inches, which places the sophomore at third in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference this season.

In the sprints, Blair Street placed second in both the 100 meters (12.63) and 200 meters (26.44).

For the men, freshman Kaelen Shay was second in the 200 meters (22.67) and third in the 100 meters (11.02). Nate Vanderby placed third in the men’s 400 meters (52.00) and fourth in the 200 meters (22.81).

In the distance events, Garret Love placed second in the men’s 5,000 meters (16:04.32), Jorey Egeland was fourth (16:33.10), and Liam McKay finished fifth (16:45.69).

Behind Lindquist, freshman Quincy Wittman placed fifth in the 110 hurdles (15.98).

Brady Ostermiller was third in the men’s shot put with a throw of 46 feet and 9 inches, and third in the discus at 128 feet and 1 inch. Cameron Stanek was both fifth in the men’s 200 meters (22.84) and the javelin (135 feet).

THE BUZZ: Lindquist, a senior from Missoula, Mont., was named the St. Vincent Healthcare Athlete of the Meet.
