Della Lyle heads up a team of 11 MSUB track and field student-athletes being named to the GNAC all-academic team.

PORTLAND, Ore. – Senior Della Lyle heads up a team of 11 MSUB student-athletes named to the Great Northwest Athletic Conference all-academic team released Tuesday.

Lyle is a graduate student in psychology after earning an undergraduate degree and transferring from Redlands University in California. The distance runner had athletic eligibility remaining and this year has competed for the Yellowjackets in indoor and outdoor track and field. She has been a standout addition to the team, setting four school records and being awarded the honor of GNAC Female Newcomer of the Year at the indoor championships.

Lyle holds a 4.00 cumulative grade point average, and is closely followed by a 3.99 from senior Jinise Trueblood. A fellow distance runner, Trueblood has earned her third consecutive GNAC all-academic honor in track and field. She graduated

last week with a degree in health and human performance and finished up her dual-sport career in cross country and track and field competing at the Tom Gage Classic in Missoula, Mont.

“We are really proud of our student-athletes who have excelled in the classroom as well as in competition,” MSUB head coach Dave Coppock said. “It’s not easy to juggle the academic workload with the amount of training, traveling and competing we do, so it’s a real testament to how hard they work. Besides those being named to the GNAC all-academic team, I’m really proud of our entire track team. I see all the hard work they do keeping up with their coursework during the entire year. They study on the bus, at hotels and at meets, so it’s definitely a priority with the entire group.”

Joining the women’s team are sophomore Bailey Bomar, senior Taylor Condon, senior Brielle Davis, junior Rio Frame, and senior Blair Street.

Bomar is a first-year addition to the all-academic team. The native of Billings, Mont., holds a 3.30 cumulative grade point average in psychology and also competes for the MSUB cross country team.

Frame earned her all-academic honor for the second straight year. Like Bomar, Frame competes for the Yellowjacket cross country team. She is earning her degree in English and is from Glendive, Mont.

Condon, Davis, and Street are finishing their Yellowjacket careers with the academic honors. The three seniors are firstyear honorees. Condon and Davis are among the group that compete in cross country and track and field while Street is a four-year participant on the track and field team.

Two-time honoree Cameron Stanek heads-up the men’s track and field award winners. The senior holds a 3.56 cumulative grade point average in health and human performance. Stanek has competed as a sprinter, in the jumps, and on the relay teams for MSUB. Junior Josh Panasuk earned a place on the team with a 3.24 cumulative grade point average in outdoor and adventure leadership. Panasuk redshirted a season of cross country and track and field and will have both sports to compete in next year.

Sophomores Jorey Egeland and Liam McKay finish the list of MSU Billings GNAC all-academic honorees. Both men are also dual athletes on the cross country and track and field teams.
