The 2016 MSUB volleyball schedule opens with a four-match tournament in Hawaii.

MSUB head coach Casey Williams is announcing the 2016 volleyball schedule that opens the season with a tournament in Hawaii. BILLINGS, Mont. – First-year Yellowjacket head coach Casey Williams announced the 2016 volleyball schedule on Tuesday that includes two tough opening-season tournaments as well as the GNAC slate and two matches against rival Rocky Mountain College. Montana State University Billings begins the regular season on Sept. 1 against Brigham Young – Hawaii at the start of a four-match tournament in the Aloha state. The Yellowjackets face the Seasiders in the morning, followed by a night match against Chaminade. Two days later, MSUB turns its attention to Hawaii Pacific for a match followed by San Francisco State in the evening. All four west region matches will be a good opening marker for the new coach and a squad that returns six players to the court.

“We are excited about the 2016 MSUB volleyball schedule,” Williams said. “We play a very strong preseason schedule and are excited about the opportunity to play some of the top Division II teams in the country. Playing a tough preseason schedule will help prepare us for competitive GNAC competition.” Following its opening-season tournament, Montana State University Billings flies to Carson, Calif., for the NCAA Division II West Region Crossover Tournament hosted by Cal State Dominguez Hills. MSU Billings is set for matches against Azusa Pacific, Hawaii Hilo, Humboldt State, and the host Toros. The 3-day tournament will be another chance for the ‘Jackets to square-up against regional competition before heading home to Billings. The ‘Jackets return to the Magic City for the first of two matches against hometown rival Rocky Mountain College on Sept. 12, at the Fortin Center. The Battlin’ Bears travel to Alterowitz on Oct. 25 for the second match-up of the season which has been designated this year’s Pink Night. MSU Billings begins its hosting duties with a pair of Great Northwest Athletic Conference matches on Sept. 16 against Simon Fraser and Sept. 17 versus Western Washington. The Yellowjackets flip-flop home and away weekends for the next month before hosting five straight in Billings beginning on Oct. 13 with Concordia (Ore.), and ending with the second match against Rocky on Oct. 25. Senior Day is scheduled for the last home match of the season on Nov. 5, against Seattle Pacific. The ‘Jackets end the season with four straight away matches, concluding the regular season in Canada against Simon Fraser on Nov. 19. Live video and statistics will be available for all MSUB home matches and all GNAC road contests throughout the 2016 season, through MSUB's Stretch Internet portal here. msubsports.com | #JacketNation--
