Sarah Leiby, who is the assistant women’s soccer coach at Black Hills State University, is named the MSUB women’s soccer assistant coach by Stephen Cavallo announced Friday. BILLINGS, Mont. – Sarah Leiby has been named the Montana State University Billings women’s soccer assistant coach, announced Yellowjacket head coach Stephen Cavallo on Friday. “We are very excited to have Sarah Leiby joining our MSUB women’s soccer family,” said Cavallo. “Sarah is an up-andcoming coach in the college ranks, and will bring a wealth of knowledge to our program. I find that Sarah’s enthusiasm and passion for coaching and helping others will only benefit our student-athletes and program in the most positive of ways. We are all looking forward to Sarah getting started this spring as we prepare for the 2017 fall season.” Leiby will start at MSUB on April 17, and will come to the Yellowjackets from her current position as assistant coach at fellow NCAA Division II school Black Hills State University. “I’d like to thank Stephen Cavallo, the search committee, and the entire MSUB Athletics staff for providing me with this great opportunity and welcoming me into the MSUB

community,” Leiby commented. “There are a lot of positive steps being taken in the program. I feel very fortunate to be a part of those next steps in developing future student-athletes and building the program into a GNAC Championships contender.” Leiby helped get BHSU’s women’s soccer program off the ground in its inaugural season in 2016. The team posted a record of 1-16 and 0-12 in its first year of competition as a member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The West Chester, Pa., native holds a United States Soccer Federation National “D” license and a National Soccer Coaches Association of America Goalkeeping Level 2 diploma. An NCAA Division I goalkeeper at the University of Vermont, Leiby saw action in 25 games and started 23 during her playing career. In 2011, she set a single-season record for minutes played by a goalkeeper with 1,693 and led the America East Conference in saves. She earned her bachelor’s degree in environmental science in 2014 and was a three-time AEC academic all-league selection. She is a graduate of WC Bayard Rustin High School in Pennsylvania. Leiby will fill a role most recently held by Cavallo for three seasons, before he was promoted from assistant coach to head coach last November. The Yellowjackets finished the 2016 fall season with an overall record of 4-10-3, and were 46-2 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference to take sixth place. --@MSUBSports | #JacketNation--
