ST. PAUL, Minn. – The MSUB women’s cross country team finished the 30th annual running of the Roy Griak Invitational hosted by the University of Minnesota. The Yellowjackets ended the meet 28th out of 35 NCAA Division II teams. Brielle Davis led the MSUB effort, finishing 63rd overall in the field of 345 participants, completing the 6,000 meters course in 24:46.3. The Yellowjackets placed 60-139-166-169-220 in the team scores for 754 points. Sophomore Alexis Zeis from the University of Mary won the race in 22:23.6. The nationally-ranked No. 4, and defending Griak champion, Minnesota-Duluth team won the event with a score of 83 (3-6-10-31-33) led by a third place result from junior Breanna Colbenson.

“Brielle had a really good race for us today,” MSUB head coach Dave Coppock said. “Our top runner Rio Frame had to drop out unfortunately. She is still struggling with an injury and wasn’t able to race today. That hurt our overall team score, but Cate Klaudt was our fifth runner today and she moved up well.” Behind Davis, senior Taylor Condon crossed the tape in 26:13.8, sophomore Bailey Bomar finished in 26:55.2, while Jinise Trueblood in 27:04.4 and freshman Cate Klaudt in 29:29.5 rounded out the top-5 for MSU Billings. Freshmen Devin McDonald in 29:39.0 (222) and Nikki Terkildsen (223) 29:39.4 completed the MSUB team results. Freshman Cate Klaudt was chosen as the St. Vincent Healthcare Athlete of the Meet for her contributions to the team. Up Next: The Yellowjackets will host two meets at home. The Yellowjacket Invitational at Amend Park is set for Oct. 9 with the women's 6k race beginning at 10:00 a.m. On Oct. 15, MSU Billings and Rocky Mountain College will go head-tohead in a dual meet at Riverfront Park beginning at 4:00 p.m. --@MSUBSports | #JacketNation--
