MSU Billings women’s cross country follows up a trip to Alaska with a short bus ride to Bozeman, Mont. to compete in the Montana State University Invitational.

After a long trip to Fairbanks, Alaska, to open competition, this week, the MSUB women’s cross country team is in state for a race in Bozeman, Mont. BILLINGS, Mont. – After a week off from competition, the MSU Billings women’s cross country team is headed to Bozeman, Mont., for the Montana State University / Bozeman Running Company Invitational. The Yellowjackets will run a 3-mile race on Saturday, Sept. 19, at the Bridger Creek Golf Course beginning at 9: 45 a.m. MSUB opened its season two weeks ago with a road trip to a Great Northwest Athletic Conference event hosted by Alaska.

The MSU Billings cross country team traveled to Fairbanks, Alaska for two races. On Thursday, Sept. 3, the women competed in a 6K distance followed by a second event on Saturday, Sept. 5 where the team competed on a 5K course. MSUB’s Rio Frame was the team’s top finisher two week ago in both races at the Moda Health Alaska Invitational. The junior harrier placed sixth overall in the 6K, crossing the finish line with a time of 24:17.5. Two days later during the 5K, Frame placed ninth with a time of 19:54.9. “We’ve had a couple strong weeks of training since our opener at Alaska-Fairbanks Sept. 3 and 5,” MSUB head coach Dave Coppock said. “We had less than a week of practice, including a time trail, prior to the Alaska meet and we’ve shown a lot of improvement since that early meet as well.” The women’s roster contains five freshmen this season, two of which - Cate Klaudt and Sarah Beatty, traveled to Alaska as the sixth and seventh members of the team. For the race in Bozeman, Mont., the full roster will make the trip, giving the entire team an opportunity to compete against some extremely tough competition. “We’ll be facing some pretty tough DI competition this week at MSU with Montana, Montana State, Idaho State, Utah and Utah State, but it should motivate us to ramp up our performance and be more competitive,” Coppock continued. “Rio Frame continues to run well and Brielle Davis, Bailey Bomar and Taylor Condon have really looked strong over the past two weeks. Jinise Trueblood is starting to round into shape and should help our top-5. This meet will be a good experience for our freshmen as well, as they run up against some strong DI schools.” Live results will not be offered for the event in Bozeman. Results plus a full recap will be available online at msubsports.com following the conclusion of the race. --@MSUBSports | #JacketNation--
