TODAY’S PANELISTS David Farkas Honeywell Aerospace David Farkas is responsible for leading all aspects of merger and acquisition V.P. of Business Development and M&A activity for Honeywell’s $12 billion Aerospace strategic business group. In this role, he is responsible for working with the Aerospace leadership team to develop a more aggressive and participative process for growing the business through strategic acquisitions and joint ventures. David joined Honeywell in 2007 as Director of Corporate Development, serving on the Corporate M&A team in Morristown, N.J., where he provided guidance and leadership to Honeywell business groups around the world. He was responsible for leading acquisitions, divestitures and joint ventures and worked extensively with cross-functional and global teams on transaction agreement negotiations, integration strategy and oversight. Farkas earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Michigan State University and an M.B.A. from University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia. He is also a Certified Public Accountant.
Jerry Friedman Marvin Group Jerry Friedman is Chairman and CEO of the Marvin Group, which he has led for 50 years. Its current consolidated group of companies include: Marvin Engineering Co., (MEC); Aerospace Dynamics Int’l. (ADI); Marvin Land Systems, (MLS); Geotest-Marvin Test Systems, (MTS); Clean Water Technologies (CWT); and Flyer Defense. Jerry holds a B.S. in Accounting (Summa Cum Laude) and a M.B.A., both from UCLA where he was also president of Beta Gamma Sigma (Business Honorary) and No. 1 in his graduating class. He is a veteran of the United States Army where he served as a 1st Lt. in the Artillery Corps. A big sports enthusiast, Jerry has competed in the International Maccabiah Games representing the United States where he earned two Gold and one Silver Medal in tennis during 2005. He was also a member of the UCLA Men’s Basketball team under legendary coach John Wooden and locally was “All City” at Hollywood High in basketball.
David Patterson Aerospace Manufacturing Group Since 2009, David Patterson has served as the CEO of Aerospace Manufacturing Group, Inc. (AMG), a holding company of highly specialized manufacturing and service companies providing flight critical components and sub-assemblies exclusively for the Aerospace & Defense industry. AMG’s current portfolio companies offer an integrated precision-machining solution to the global A&D industry, ranging from small metallic components to monolithic structures up to 70 feet. David has enjoyed over 35 years of industrial manufacturing and operational & financial management experience, of which over 20 years have been focused on the A&D industry. Since forming AMG in 2008, David has successfully defined and implemented a buildup strategy currently composed of two major portfolio companies, Metric Precision and Notthoff Engineering. Born and raised in Ohio, Mr. Patterson received his Bachelor degree from Ohio State University and a M.B.A. from the University of Southern California.
TODAY’S PANELISTS Michael Lohnert The Boeing Company, Defense, Space, & Security Michael Lohnert focuses on mergers & acquisitions, business cultivation, market analyses, competitive assessments, business model and plan development. During his tenure at Boeing, Lohnert has analyzed markets ranging from solar, smart grid, composites, micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS), and wireless microwave to space-based remote sensing, cyber-security, maritime security, and business jets. Lohnert is also a strategy instructor at Boeing’s Leadership Center, a 286 acre learning campus. Michael received his MBA from the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University, where he concentrated in investment management and strategy. His undergrad was also done at Fisher where he earned a BSBA in finance and a BSBA in real estate finance. He also has certifications from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Sloan School of Management, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH), and the Swiss Banking Institute at the Universität Zürich.
Anthony Reardon Ducommun Tony Reardon is President and CEO for Ducommun Incorporated. Reardon oversees the strategic direction of the growth oriented manufacturing company. Under Tony’s leadership, Ducommun doubled in size with the acquisition of LaBarge, Inc., in 2011. With more than three decades of aerospace manufacturing and engineering experience, Tony began leading the company as chief executive officer in 2009, and just prior to that, was named president and chief operating officer in 2008. Previously, he was named president of the company’s Ducommun AeroStructures business unit in 2003. Tony holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Loras College in Iowa and has done graduate work at Northern Illinois University. He serves on the board of governors for the Aerospace Industries Association.
TODAY’S MODERATOR Randy Krauthamer Duff & Phelps Randy Krauthamer is a managing director in the Mergers and Acquisitions group at Duff & Phelps. He has over 20 years of investment banking experience and leads the firm’s Aerospace, Defense and Government Services investment banking team in North America. Randy has taken the lead role in the completion of more than 100 transactions for his clients. Recent transactions include representing Universal Turbine Parts in its recapitalization with Goldner Hawn Johnson & Morrison; representing Avioserv San Diego in connection with an equity placement; assisting Swift-Cor Aerospace in its sale to Impressa Aerospace; and representing Venture Aircraft in its recapitalization with HSBC Private Equity. Before joining Duff & Phelps, Randy was a managing director with Waveland Capital Group and MRC Worldwide. Prior to that, he was a managing director with McGladrey Capital Markets and was a managing director with Citigroup. Randy received a B.S. degree in finance with distinction from San Diego State University.
