TODAY’S PANELISTS Ramona Cappello Corazonas Foods, Inc. As an enthusiastic entrepreneur, Ramona has a 30-year track record of delivering excellent business results for a variety of companies by leveraging strong brands or creating new ones. As the founder of Corazonas Foods, she launched a company whose vision is to put joy back into the lives of those who are living with high cholesterol by offering great tasting, heart healthy snacks. She has uniquely woven together her passions for advocacy and entrepreneurship to create Corazonas Foods, which markets the only line of great tasting, heart-healthy snacks that are clinically proven to lower cholesterol. Prior, Ms. Cappello was a senior executive with Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Company, where she led the company’s growth until the sale to Hershey Foods, delivering the second highest IRR at that time in history for The Shansby Group. Additionally, she delivered outstanding results for food and beverage companies including Nestle, Celestial Seasonings and Kendall-Jackson Wineries. Ms. Cappello graduated as valedictorian from the University of Southern California, School of Business Administration. She is actively involved in leadership with Young Presidents’ Organization, the University Southern California on both the Board of Governors and the Board of Marshall Partners. She also serves on the Board of Catholic Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Los Angeles.
Dan Machanik Outernational Brands, Inc./BABI Corp. Since joining BABI Corp. in 2003, Mr. Machanik has spent much of his time with the company working and living between Asia and the U.S. and has been an integral member of his company’s team that has created, manufactured and launched its proprietary, All Natural Beverage brands throughout the world, including NOYU Teas, VIVALOE Aloe Beverages and KOH Coconut Water. In Nov. 2008, Mr. Machanik launched the company’s first brand in the USA when he sold a case of NOYU Teas out of the back of his van into a corner market in Berkeley, CA. Today All Natural Brands can be found in stores, cafes and markets around the country including Whole Foods, Costco and Duane Reade and are distributed widely through UNFI/Nature’s Best as well as through numerous DSD distributors. When creating new brands, Mr. Machanik helps his team identify trends from Asia before they reach the U.S. and in the U.S. before they reach Asia. BABI Corp. also holds exclusive manufacturing/distribution rights for Tree Top Juices in Asia, Pepperidge Farm in Taiwan and a host of other world class brands from Europe and the USA. Mr. Machanik currently lives in the Bay area and holds a BS Advertising/Journalism degree from The University of Colorado, Boulder.
TODAY’S PANELISTS Nitin Dhopade O.N.E. Coconut Water Nitin Dhopade is the COO at a private investor group, where he oversees 12 investee companies in the consumer products and technology sectors. Immediately prior to this, he was the COO/CFO at O.N.E. Coconut Water responsible for all Operations, Finance, International Sales, Human Resources and Administration. Mr. Dhopade has significant experience in manufacturing and processing businesses, domestic and international. Mr. Dhopade has successfully held the CFO position in diverse companies. In most of these, he was responsible for HR, IT, Supply Chain & Purchasing and Administrative functions besides Finance & Accounting. Mr. Dhopade’s career began in Texas at the Wornick Companies Group, in the food processing industry. Over the next decade, he held various progressive finance positions within the food industry including Division Controller for the Yorkshire Food Group. Mr. Dhopade has an MBA from the University of Texas-Edinburg and a B.S. in Business & Accounting from the University of Bombay, India.
Gary Rocheleau Vons/Pavilions Gary Rocheleau is currently V.P. of Retail Marketing Execution for Vons/Pavilions, a Safeway Company. His key responsibility is to interface with the centralized marketing group of Safeway Corporate. Prior positions include; Vice President of Sales for California, Hawaii and Nevada and President of Grocery Works. Mr. Rocheleau began his career with Lucky Stores, Inc., where he spent nearly 23 years. He served as Vice President of Grocery. He began his tenure at Lucky in 1968 and steadily worked his way up through a number of positions including Assistant Store Manager, Store Manager, Grocery Supervisor, District Supervisor, Senior Grocery Buyer, Head Grocery Buyer and Sales Promotion Manager. Mr. Rocheleau received a Bachelor of Science degree from California State University, Long Beach and earned a Certificate in Food Industry Management from the University of Southern California.
TODAY’S MODERATOR Tracy Albert Deloitte Corporate Finance Mr. Albert serves as the Managing Director of the firm’s Los Angeles office. His experience includes advising middle-market companies on strategic alternatives. His industry experience includes telecommunications, consumer products, and a broad range of industrial businesses. Prior to joining McColl Partners, Mr. Albert was a Managing Director at Houlihan Lokey in Los Angeles. There he formed and managed their Wealth Management Alliances Program, a partnership with the largest wealth management firms in the US. Mr. Albert holds a B.A. from the University of Southern California and is registered with FINRA as a General Securities Representative (Series 7 and 63).
