TODAY’S PANELISTS Marc Liebman Alvarez & Marsal Corporate Finance Marc Liebman is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal – Corporate Finance. He is a co-founder of the group and leads the practice’s efforts in the Western region of the U.S. Mr. Liebman specializes in strategic capital structure alternatives advisory, mergers and acquisitions, private placement financings and balance sheet restructuring. He has been involved in numerous financial advisory assignments, serving both public and private companies. In financially strained or over-leveraged situations, Mr. Liebman has assisted Clients both out-of-court and under Chapter 11 protection - to develop, negotiate and execute capital structure restructurings, raise capital, monetize assets and manage stakeholder relationships. He has successfully restructured the balance sheets of both large-cap and middle-market companies, raised billions of dollars of debtor-in-possession and exit financing for companies in and emerging from bankruptcy, and has executed sales transactions for firms pursuant to 363 sales processes. Mr. Liebman earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration, with a concentration in accounting, from the University of Notre Dame, and a master’s degree in business administration, specializing in finance, from the University of Chicago.

Michael H. Ahrens Sheppard Mullin Michael H. Ahrens is a partner in the Finance and Bankruptcy Practice Group in the firm’s San Francisco office. Mr. Ahrens represents clients throughout the country in all types of insolvency proceedings, including confirmation of plans, rejection and assumption of leases and other executory contracts, and bankruptcy litigation. Mr. Ahrens represents secured creditors, debtors, creditors’ committees, trustees and receivers. In addition, Mr. Ahrens has represented business clients in the purchase and sale of assets of troubled companies. He has substantial experience with loan workout problems of troubled companies, representing both financial institutions and borrowers. Mr. Ahrens has been named “Top Northern California Bankruptcy Lawyer” and has been named a member of the Northern California Super Lawyers, by San Francisco Magazine, from 2007 – present. Mr. Ahrens received his J.D., from the University of San Francisco and his B.A., from the University of San Francisco.

José Feliciano Clearlake Capital Mr. Feliciano co-founded Clearlake in 2006. Prior to co-founding Clearlake, Mr. Feliciano was a Partner and member of the investment committee at Tennenbaum, a private investment firm focused on distressed and other special situations investments. Mr. Feliciano serves on the board of directors, bank instructing groups and bondholder committees of numerous companies. Mr. Feliciano also serves on the Board of several non-profit organizations including the New America Alliance Institute and the Neighborhood Youth Association and has served as a Commissioner of the Industrial Development Authority of the City of Los Angeles. Mr. Feliciano received a B.S. in Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering with High Honors from Princeton University and a M.B.A. from the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University (where he was a Robert Toigo Fellow).


TODAY’S PANELISTS Steve Green Kibel Green, Inc. With more than 30 years of experience in business leadership, finance, operations, and turnaround management, Steve Green is a nationally recognized authority in these fields. Known for his strategic thinking and leadership in assisting companies through periods of transition or turnaround, Steve has led or participated in hundreds of operational transitions and major reorganizations, resulting in dramatic improvements to profitability and cash flow. He has also overseen numerous M&A and financing transactions. Steve holds an MBA from the University of Southern California (USC) and a BS in business from Northeastern University. He serves on the Advisory Council to USC’s Entrepreneurship Program and lectures at the USC graduate and undergraduate business schools. He is a frequent speaker on a variety of operational and financial topics. He also holds a California Real Estate Broker license.

TODAY’S MODERATOR Amit Patel Houlihan Lokey Mr. Patel is a Managing Director in the Financial Restructuring Group in Houlihan Lokey’s Los Angeles office. He has developed and executed corporate finance and operational strategies for numerous distressed companies as both a restructuring investment banker as well as a senior operating manager. He has initiated and led numerous restructurings, M&A assignments and financings for all levels of the capital structure. He has worked on over 40 restructurings representing both companies and creditors, and has dealt with many complex bankruptcy issues such as union, OPEB and asbestos-related liabilities. Mr. Patel has been deemed an expert witness by multiple bankruptcy courts in a variety of contested manners involving valuation, legacy and plan confirmation issues. Before rejoining Houlihan Lokey, Mr. Patel was leading the west coast efforts of Goldman Sachs Special Situation Group. His responsibilities included sourcing and executing distressed investments at all levels of the capital structure. Mr. Patel holds a B.S. in economics with a concentration in finance from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
