You have personal and business credit cards that can provide you with the desired rewards necessary for travel hacking. There is no order required when applying for business cards. However, discretion must be exercised when applying for personal credit cards. There are certain personal cards you should initially apply for to make sure you do not miss out on great points and mile rewards. This decision could affect your card approval for about 2 years, so act cautiously. One of our favorite credit cards is Chase Sapphire Preferred rewards credit cards because of its versatility with transferring points.
Credit card issuers are constantly updating points and policies associated with their available rewards and perks. Some of the major credit card companies we will discuss in our course are Hilton, Marriott, American Airlines, Delta, and much more. The companies listed have amazing reward advantages. The number of bonus points offered constantly changes with each new offer. If you are in the market for looking for additional cards it is important to get the maximum number of points or miles known for each card. This requires some research or our course to determine when the perfect opportunity presents itself to apply for these cards.
It has been discovered that depending on the company, you may not have the opportunity to own each issuer’s card made available. Each lender has their own sets of rules and regulations as it relates to the distribution of the cards. So again, before you make a final decision on a card, check to see if there are any restrictions on the number of cards you can have on an individual account. Research is required during this step to make certain you have received the best cards with top sign-up bonus offers for your future goals.
Chapter 4:
Checking account bonus points offers
In this section we are going to talk about opening a new checking account for bonus points or miles. Initially this may seem like a great idea. However, when we take a deeper look into the offer it is less than tempting. For most people, this offer would be intriguing right? Think about it, you don’t have to worry about any hard inquiries! This may be true, but the rewards won’t carry you far, and a ton of money is needed to receive their rewards. Look below for an example of miles associated with a checking account.
The above example may seem enticing initially, but let’s take a moment to review the information provided. If you are even considering this offer stop and look at the information provided below the chart. You are unable to transfer any funds within this bank to open a new account. Secondly if for some reason fall you below the monthly requirement you are charged a substantial monthly fee. What also catches our attention is the monthly required spending. These companies can actually require you to spend a minimum amount every month to remain within guidelines! It is quite evident that their only goal is to make profit from your revolving funds. There are too many restrictions for such a small number of miles rewarded.
If you are someone who has the extra cash to open a completely new account and desire to do so, that’s great!
