A LONELY SOLDIER, indeed, is the black G.I. in Viet Nam who finds it hard not to believe that he is being used as cannon fodder by men who mean him no good on the front or at home. It has been reported that many black soldiers

are reluctant to wear a U.S. uniform in black communities because of the stigma it carries. This marine .near Da Nang, South Viet Nam seems to symbolize the plight of the black U.S. soldier as he makes his isolated way down a jungle trail.

STRUGGLING to remain in her own home, a Vietnamese woman frantically attempts to escape American led South Vietnamese government forces who are trying to take her to a concentration camp with other members of her village. She was overcome, however, and her village destroyed behind her.

A MAIMED VIETNAMESE youth is carried to an aid station at Khe Sanh near Hill 881 north, blood dripping from his face, arms and hands staining what appears to be the remains of a U.S. Army fatigue uniform. A

great number of Vietnamese youths are made to fight for the government against their wills. The policy has resulted in one of the highest desertion and defection rates in history. WORLD POPULARITY polls, if in existence, would probably show the United States ranking near the bottom. An example of world attitudes toward the U.S. was recently seen at this Madrid American flag burning, led by students from the U.S. and joined in by scores of Spaniards.
