Guests
Dear Mulgrave Families,
After months of planning and hard work, the Best of Prom Gala is finally here. We’re bringing you all back in time (or should we say back to the future?!) for an incredible, nostalgic night full of revelry.
Attending our gala is a chance to celebrate our amazing community. It’s a wonderful way to connect with other families, school leadership, board members, and teachers. Coming together also gives us the opportunity to help raise funds for a great cause. All proceeds from tonight will be directed toward Mulgrave’s Financial Assistance Programme, and will help deserving students receive an exceptional education at our school. None of it would be possible without your kindness and generosity - so thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.
Mulgrave strives to be diverse, inclusive, and welcoming. It is evident that by being our guest this evening, you share these same values, and have taken these values to heart. Mulgravians don’t just wanna have fun - we want to make the world a better place, too.
Don’t stop believing in all the good that we can achieve here tonight!
Sincerely,
Your Gala Co-Chairs
Natasha Bak, Elnaz Ghandchi, and Echo Wu
Tonight, we celebrate on the stolen, ancestral lands of the Musqueam, Tsleil-Waututh, and Squamish Nations of the Coast Salish Peoples. As we honour our community, and uplift and take care of one another, we encourage you to take a moment to recognise these values, which have been practiced by Indigenous communities on this land since time immemorial. May this gathering be a chance for us to forge new relationships, strengthen bonds, and reflect upon the opportunities - and corresponding responsibilities - that have been given to us.

Financial Assistance Fund
As a school committed to inclusion, our goal is to continue to attract a diverse student body united in our school values and with a shared passion for an international-style education, global citizenship, and a holistic approach to learning. This not only is the right thing to do from a values perspective, but it also enables all of us to gain new perspectives and develop a creative, critical, and compassionate understanding of the world around us.
Mulgrave’s Financial Assistance Programme supports families in two ways. First, it removes financial barriers for highly-qualified applicants in Grade 7 and up, who would otherwise not be able to afford to access our school. Second, it supports existing Mulgrave families who face unexpected financial hardships which might otherwise force them to withdraw from our community.
It is through your generosity that these acts are possible. You can help us reach our fundraising goal today, allowing us to grow our endowment and create a sustainable financial assistance fund.
Please donate today! Donations are eligible for a tax receipt.

Head for a Day
If your child was Head of School for a day, what would they do? What kind of leader would they be?
The winning bid will enable your child to see Mulgrave from an entirely different perspective. They’ll attend meetings with staff and leadership, make some important (and fun!) day-to-day operational decisions, visit classrooms, and participate in various events. Dear Gala Guests,
Over my 13 years at Mulgrave, I have collected many fond memories of galas. From The Silk Road themed event a few years ago (I may have to pull out the Hawaiian shirts again!), the events have been so meaningful and fun. With each gala, I am so impressed by the incredible organisation and planning of volunteers and staff, the talented students who perform, and the generosity and spirit of our community.
Once again, our gala tonight is raising funds for financial assistance which enables talented young people with limited means to benefit from our outstanding education and supports existing Mulgrave families on a short-term basis through troubled times. Having the privilege of being able to access a very high-quality education for our children is something we have in common. Sharing some of that privilege with young people who are less fortunate is important, brings benefits of inclusion and varied perspectives, and is the right thing to do. Creating a strong Financial Assistance Programme is important to me and I hope that this year’s gala will allow me to leave another small legacy for our school and our community.
I thank all of you for being here tonight to support this effort. My gratitude is extended in particular to our parent co-chairsNatasha Bak, Elnaz Ghandchi, and Echo Wu - and their team of volunteers for creating such a spectacular event. I will remember it always as the prom that caps off my time as your Head of School.
Kind regards,
John Wray (he/him) Head of School
