Our Programme

Our programme aims to develop children's 'Skills for Life'. It helps them grow into confident adults, that understand and enjoy the importance of leading healthy active lifestyles.

At your first class, you will have experienced a fraction of the potential that Tumble Tots has to offer your child in the future.

Today’s equipment is only a small part of the apparatus and the layout is changed every two weeks (six weeks for 6 MonthsWalking).

This gives us the opportunity to concentrate on different skills and to intensify the challenges as the children develop within the programme.

Age Groups:

 6 Months - Walking

 Walking - 2 Years

 2 - 3 Years

 3 Years - School Age

 Gymbobs (School Age - 7 Years)

The basic philosophy is to ‘build selfconfidence’ through the development of the child’s physical learning. This is achieved by focusing on four important areas:

 General motor skills

 Social awareness

 Self assurance

 Self discipline

They gain this through:

 A structured development programme

 Ongoing challenges

 A fun and happy atmosphere

 Well trained and enthusiastic staff

 A safe environment

Top Tips in the Classes

 When your child receives their membership pack, encourage them to wear their t-shirt in classes to feel part of the club!

 Before you leave and in the case of severe weather conditions, please check your text messages, emails, our website or Facebook page for closures.

 Please dress children in suitable clothing to allow for better movement and avoid jewellery, dummies or any clothing that can catch on the equipment or cause injury.

 Barefoot is best (and safest) for children as this helps with their development. Grownups can wear shoes if they aren’t high heels or heavy boots as these can hurt small fingers or toes.

 Please take your child to the toilet before classes begin to save interruption (this is especially important for the over 3’s classes).

 If you need to bring a sibling along to class, please be aware that they are unable to participate or play on the equipment as they will not be covered by insurance. We recommend bringing something to occupy them such as a book or colouring.

 Make sure you arrive in plenty of time and register your child at the desk.

 Parents are fully responsible for their children in the under 3’s classes. We ask that you work directly with your child, encouraging and assisting where necessary. Support your child by holding the back of their T-Shirt so their hands are free for climbing and to aid balance.

 In the over 3’s classes, grown-ups are not actively involved but must always remain on the premises.

 Children are asked not to eat or drink on the equipment but if they need refreshments, you are welcome to take them to the waiting area.

 Please do not take any photographs or videos during the classes and refrain from using mobile phones so your child has your full attention.

 Do not let children onto the equipment before or after classes. Please move to the waiting area so we can set-up safely for the next class.

Objectives & Benefits

Our progressive play programme is designed to develop your child’s physical skills. Using bespoke colourful equipment, we focus on agility, balance, climbing and co-ordination, which enhances brain development and builds confidence.

Every session is supervised by our amazing specially trained staff, getting the best out of each child. Up until 3 years, grown-ups participate as well so that parents, carers and even grandparents can spend time with little ones as they develop.

The journey begins for babies from 6 months old who can sit up unaided. Here’s how our classes break down:

6 Months – Walking

Babies explore the equipment in a happy and relaxed environment. This enhances their brain development and helps them to reach key milestones such as crawling, cruising and walking, taking them onto the next class.

Walking – 2 Years

Confidently walking toddlers are now introduced to an exciting circuit of equipment as well as hand held co-ordination activities, developing their fine motor skills. ‘Circle Time’ helps language development through rhymes and action songs.

2 – 3 Years

Working together in small groups, little ones are introduced to stations with more challenging equipment to refine their agility, balance and climbing skills. Following instructions and learning to take turns develops their listening and social skills, as well as confidence.

3 Years – School Age*

Children now take part independently without their grownup, putting into practice their skills for life. Our staff challenge each child individually to their full potential, preparing them for school, physically, socially and mentally.

Gymbobs (School Age – 7 Years)*

Gymbobs is the pinnacle class of Tumble Tots, bringing together everything children have learnt so far! Using challenging equipment setups, relay races, team games and warm-up exercises, Gymbobs is a perfect addition to a child’s school P.E. provision.

*For the 3 Years – School Age and Gymbobs (School Age – 7 Years) classes, parents must remain on site.

Tumble Tots Turns 45!

This year Tumble Tots celebrates its 45th anniversary, and we still can’t quite believe that our brightly coloured equipment and iconic action songs have been enjoyed by over 2 million children since our doors opened in 1979!

While the world has changed a lot over the past 45 years, our fun physical play programme with brightly coloured equipment and iconic action songs still stands the test of time, loved by parents, children and our franchisees alike.

To celebrate this milestone, we’ve been looking back at some photos from the Tumble Tots archives and reflecting on the parts of our programme that are just as relevant today as they were 45 years ago!

45

Years of Train Times

As you can see from these old photos, our yellow t-shirts have evolved over the years, but Train Times have remained an important element of our Tumble Tots classes,

teaching structure as Tumble Tots progress through the programme!

45 Years of Agility, Balance, Climbing and Co-ordination

Our equipment has developed over the years too, but the fundamental skills for life we teach at Tumble Tots remain the same:

✔ Agility

✔ Balance

✔ Climbing

✔ Co-ordination

Of course, it wouldn’t be Tumble Tots without jumping, rolling, balancing and climbing on our brightly coloured equipment. For the last 45 years, we have

introduced children to a range of different activities as early as possible to help them learn physical, cognitive and social skills at the age they are developing the fastest.

45 Years of Circle Time

Our iconic action songs and rhymes aren't just about having fun - although let's face it, who doesn't love Shaking Their Sillies - Circle Time is also about developing language skills and self-confidence, and has remained a much-loved part of every Tumble Tots class.

45 Years of Aeroplane Arms!

Balance is an essential skill that makes everyday activities easier and safer for little ones, and it also strengthens muscles and bones! We know that balancing can be super tricky, but encouraging your Tumble Tot to use their Aeroplane Arms is a great way to help them develop this skill!

45 Years of Rolling!

At Tumble Tots, we encourage little ones to jump, roll, balance and climb, introducing them to a range of different activities as early as possible to help them learn physical, cognitive, and social skills at the age they are developing the fastest!

Thanking our Franchisee Network

We wouldn’t be celebrating our 45th anniversary without our network of dedicated Franchisees who bring the Tumble Tots programme to you. Over the summer we hosted a brilliant birthday bonanza, with Franchisees attending from up and down the UK to celebrate together and raise a glass to 45 years of Tumble Tots.

We all learnt a great deal from our interactive Guest Speaker Philippa Youlden, Early Years Physical Activity Expert, and enjoyed party games such as Tumble Tots Music Bingo which got everybody on their feet and dancing!

Many of our Franchisees are also celebrating milestone anniversaries in 2024, and we would like to thank the following Franchisees for their valuable contribution to the delivery of the Tumble Tots programme:

Celebrating Movement with Tumble Tots and DreamWorks Animation’s Gabby’s Dollhouse!

National Children’s Activity Week (or NCAW for short) is a campaign held every October in Tumble Tots classes across the country to highlight the importance of physical activity for children.

We change our NCAW theme every year to keep things exciting and engaging for little ones, and this year we are delighted to partner with Gabby’s Dollhouse, the global hit animated series from DreamWorks Animation streaming worldwide on Netflix.

Gabby’s Dollhouse is a mixed media preschool series that unboxes a surprise before jumping into a fantastical animated world full of adorable cat characters that live inside the dollhouse. New episodes from the series’ milestone 10th season just released on Netflix.

During NCAW, children attend their normal Tumble Tots class, at the same time and place, but are given themed activities to take part in. Children and grown-ups are invited to dress up to make the week even more exciting!

So why is movement so important for little ones?

According to NHS Guidelines*, being physically active every day is important for the healthy growth and development of babies, toddlers and preschoolers. Specifically, toddlers (aged 1 to 2) and preschoolers (aged 3 to 4) should be physically active every day for at least 180 minutes (3 hours).

How does NCAW help with this?

Sometimes we all need a little encouragement to get physically active, and making movement more fun with Gabby, Pandy Paws and all the Gabby Cats is the perfect way to encourage children to engage with physical activity and develop a positive association with exercise at a young age. Every Tumble Tots class attended contributes 45 minutes to the daily goal of 180 minutes.

Spreading movement throughout the day is particularly important for toddlers and preschoolers as children under 5 should not be inactive for long periods, except when they’re asleep.*

National Children’s Activity Week is held every year in October. Look out for announcements on our social media pages!

Rooted in growth mindset, Gabby’s activity-based episodes encourage flexible thinking and learning from your mistakes.

Gabby’s Dollhouse continues to expand through Universal Destinations & Experiences theme parks, global fan experiences, live events and much more, including Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie heading to theaters September 26, 2025. B Corps Brands Explained

Many of us are becoming more aware of the impact we have in the world. We want to protect the planet so that future generations can live a happy and healthy life and this means we make daily choices that we hope can create a positive impact.

To reduce your environmental footprint you might recycle, compost food waste, buy second-hand clothes, cut back on meat and swap flying for taking the train. Then there are the social issues in the world that are becoming increasingly important to us such as advocating for equal rights, attending protests, donating to local charities or even reaching out to an elderly neighbour who might be lonely. We are confident these actions create a positive impact, but when it comes to choosing which brands to buy from, it can be more difficult to know how our pounds can have real purpose. You might look out for products with recyclable or biodegradable packaging, but is that business also prioritising the welfare of its workers and suppliers? You could support a brand that’s campaigning to raise awareness about social issues, but is it also measuring its environmental impact across its production chain too? Despite

Certified B Corporations (B Corps for short), are a new kind of business balancing profit with people and the planet. B Corps meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, legal accountability and transparency. To certify, B Corps must achieve a minimum score on the B Impact Assessment – a rigorous online tool assessing a company’s impact on its workers, customers, community and the environment. B Corps commit to transparency by publishing their score on the B Corp website and they amend their governing articles to legally embed a commitment to people and the planet, alongside making a profit.

What makes a B Corp a better business?

To help answer this question, here are two B Corps who are using business as a force for good.

Ella’s Kitchen

Since 2016, Ella’s Kitchen has been certified as a B Corporation, which means we are part of a global community that believes businesses should be a force for good for people and the planet.

“At Ella’s, we’re on a mission to help every little one grow up happy, healthy and never hungry and in a world that’s buzzing with life and protected for generations to come. That’s why we’re working every day to be a better business and put little futures first in everything that we do…from encouraging little ones to eat more fruit +veg, to supporting vulnerable families and their little ones through our partnership with Action for Children and protecting + restoring nature with our friends at the RSPB” Georgie Morgan, Senior Sustainability Comms Manager

Ella’s Kitchen use their voice to stand up for little ones through advocating for real change and recently have been campaigning for our newlyformed Government to commit to adopting a Future Generations Act, which will have a lasting positive impact on generations to come.

Organix

– “Organix certified in 2022 and is dedicated to sourcing only the best organic ingredients and keeping our foods free from anything unnecessary like added salt and artificial colours, or flavours. Plus, we're excited to announce that all our packaging will be fully recyclable in the UK by August 2024, and we've completely removed palm oil from our range.

dedicated to supporting our local community through volunteering, charity fundraising, and sourcing locally for our head office needs.”

Doing more to B the change

We live in a world where business can be part of the solution to the world’s biggest challenges. B Corps may not be perfect, but you can be sure that when you buy products from these businesses, you know they are always doing something to make progress and improve. To maintain certification, B Corps must complete the assessment every 3 years so as a business grows and changes, its environmental and social performance will always be measured and managed.

Building a Brighter Future

Frank Cottrell-Boyce, the multi award-winning author and screenwriter, has been crowned the Waterstones Children’s Laureate 2024 – 2026 and he is determined to drive home how critical books and reading are to the development of our children.

For 25 years, the Waterstones Children’s Laureate has been the foremost representative of children’s literature, awarded biannually to a renowned writer or illustrator in recognition of exceptional talent. Managed by BookTrust – the UK’s largest children’s reading charity – and sponsored by Waterstones, this prestigious role celebrates creativity and storytelling, promotes the vital importance of reading and children’s literature, and champions the right of every child to enjoy a lifetime enriched with books and stories. Each Laureate brings their own passion and creativity to their tenure.

Reading Rights: Books Build a Brighter Future campaign

Cottrell-Boyce launched his Laureateship in July with a powerful speech declaring his ambitions for children’s books and the life-changing benefits of reading to be ‘taken seriously’. He pledged to dedicate his two-year tenure to igniting a fierce

national conversation about the role books and reading can play in transforming children’s lives, referencing the decades of compelling evidence showing that reading for pleasure is the single biggest factor impacting the life-chances of a child. This campaign – which is called Reading Rights: Books Build a Brighter Future – also includes plans for a national summit bringing together expert voices in the political, education, literacy and early years sectors.

How to keep up to date with the Waterstones Children’s Laureate

Picture books are a rich resource for developing early language skills; they help build a robust vocabulary and an understanding of narrative structure, which are foundational for literacy. The visual elements of picture books are particularly effective in maintaining young

children's engagement, as they provide contextual clues that aid in comprehension and enhance the storytelling experience.

St. Johann in Salzburg

St. Johann in Salzburg is located in the heart of the SalzburgerLand, about 45 minutes from Salzburg Airport.

Selecting the right car seat

Ensuring your child is safe when travelling in the car is a top priority for all parents and carers but knowing which car seat to select can be a minefield for so many of us. To help you with your selection, the experts at Graco share their top tips for what to consider when choosing a car seat for your little one.

Get to grips with car seat safety standards

You don’t need to become an expert in car seat safety, every seat sold in the UK has to be legally compliant, but some seats will be manufactured to a newer safety standard than others and that’s called R129. So, what do you need to know about the latest car seat safety standard?

The R129 car seat safety standard is designed to simplify the selection process and further protect our children, so there’s a few key considerations with R129 car seats to be aware of.

R129 is considered the safest standard, with rigorous side impact testing for improved head and neck protection. It requires children to be rearward facing for longer, until at least 15 months old. As

parents and carers, the most significant change you’ll need to be aware of when it comes to selecting a car seat is that it’s based on your child’s height alone, which means it should be simpler to get the right seat to suit your child’s development stage.

Embrace extended rearward facing

Children must be rearward facing until a minimum of 15 months old. At Graco, we recommend rearward travel till 4 years of age for the best protection to the child’s neck and spine.

Ensure the car seat is the right fit for your car

Check the manufacturer’s guidelines for details on vehicle compatibility and go in-store to trusted retailers to speak to their car seat fitting experts. Then when it comes to fitting it in your vehicle, make sure you follow the fitting instructions carefully to ensure it’s safely secured in car. Fitting videos are a great help and you can find ours on Graco’s YouTube channel @Graco_UK. Don’t stop there, make sure you get the head rest and seat belt straps in the right position for the size of your child.

Accurately measure your child

As R129 car seat compatibility is measured by the length, or height of the child, ensure you have this measurement when shopping for a car seat.

TURN TO THE EXPERTS

At Graco, child safety is our number one priority, and we carry out rigorous testing to ensure all our products meet and exceed the highest safety standards. That’s why we’re proud to have an extensive range of car seats tested to R129 standards. Here’s a selection of Graco’s most popular R129 certified car seats:
