Az ír énekes­ dalszerző ­ gitáros, Damien Rice nemcsak dalairól, hanem közvetlen előadói stílusáról és szentimentális koncertjeiről is ismert. Első albumát, az O ­t, melyet otthonában rögzített és 2002­ben saját maga adott ki, széles körben üdvözölte a kritika. Ezt aztán számtalan turné és két újabb lemez követte, dalai slágerlisták éléről és nagy sikerű filmek, sorozatok betétdalaiként köszöntek vissza. Legismertebb szerzeményeiben, mint amilyen a The Blower’s Daughter, a 9 Crimes, a Cannonball vagy az I Don’t Want to Change You, látszólag egyszerű eszközökkel él, de mindig a szív közepébe talál. Úgy tartják, dalainak varázsa olyankor mutatkozik meg a legélénkebben, amikor egyedül vagy kis létszámú zenekarával lép színpadra. Tavasszal európai koncertturnéra indul, így erről hazai rajongói a Bartók Tavasz keretében a Müpában bizonyosodhatnak meg.

Irish singer, songwriter and guitarist Damien Rice is an unmissable live act, with emphasis laid on emotional and musical intensity in each performance. His first album ‘O’ was recorded at home and self-released in Ireland in early 2002 and later around the rest of the world, where it received widespread critical acclaim. Numerous tours followed, along with two more albums ’9’ and ’My Favourite Faded Fantasy’. He gained further popularity after some of his most famous songs were included in the media. His best-known compositions, such as The Blower’s Daughter, 9 Crimes, Cannonball and I Don’t Want to Change You, employ seemingly simple devices, but never fail to hit sharp in the heart. The magic of his songs is said to be the most vivid when he performs alone or with a small band. In the spring, he will embark on a European concert tour, and his Hungarian fans can get proof of this at the Bartók Spring, in Müpa Budapest.

Nemzedékek közös élménye Fekete István 1937­ben megjelent kalandregénye, A koppányi aga testamentuma, illetve a harminc évvel későbbi, azonos című film. Ezek a művek ihlették Eredics Benjamin mozgalmas, fordulatos tánczenéjét, melyben a korszak jellegzetes, karakteres figurái, valamint a végvárak vadregényes környezete a tánc nyelvén elevenedik meg. A darab zenéjében hatásosan keveredik a 16. század végének zenei miliője a népzenével, a modern hangszeres effektusok a tánczene temperamentumával. E sok színben pompázó világot különböző stílusokban otthonos muzsikusok közvetítik, a szimfonikus hangzás izgalmasan ötvöződik a népi hangszerek tónusával. Eredics Benjamin alkotását a Müpa Zeneműpályázatán díjazták, a táncszínházi alkotás teljes zenei anyagát a Bartók Tavasz közönsége hallhatja elsőként.

Generations have enjoyed István Fekete’s 1937 novel, The Testament of the Aga of Koppány, and the film of the same title, which was made thirty years later. These works inspired Benjamin Eredics’s lively, eventful music for dance, in which the distinctive figures of the period and the romantic setting of the castles on the frontier are brought to life in the language of dance. The music of the piece compellingly blends the musical milieu of the late 16th century with folk music, the modern instrumental effects with the temperament of dance music. Replete with colour, this sumptuous world is conveyed by musicians who are at home in different styles, and the symphonic sound blends exhilaratingly with the tone of folk instruments. Benjamin Eredics’s work was awarded a prize at Müpa Budapest’s Composition Competition, and the audience can hear this piece for dance theatre for the first time at the Bartók Spring.
