FESTIVITIES

It’s going to be a lively autumn with jazz, pop and world music concerts at Müpa Budapest. The Bridging Europe Festival’s Italian culturefocused evenings feature Antonio Castrignanò and his band, who continue to rethink Salento musical traditions, as well as the Grand Dame of Italian jazz, Roberta Gambarini, accompanied by the Budapest Jazz Orchestra, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and will also be returning in December with Vera Tóth. Elvis Costello is back at Müpa Budapest after 10 years – this time with Steve Nieve on keyboards – as is Ludovico Einaudi for the first time since 2017, while Cory Henry has only made his fans wait 2 years. Margaret Island is creating a new world with the Szeged Contemporary Dance Company. The double trio of Jakob Bro and Joe Lovano also pays tribute to drummer Paul Motian, while the greats of the Hungarian jazz scene pay homage to Béla Szakcsi Lakatos.
