Miriam Isasi has a Doctorate in Fine Arts from the EHU/UPV, completing her international stay at the UNAM in Mexico. She has participated in residency programs at the Academy of Spain in Rome (Italy), Artist x Artist (Cuba), Bilbaoarte Foundation, Kunsthaus in Bregenz (Austria), EAS-EZE Bitamine Faktoria (Irún-Buenos Aires), MA Studio in Beijing and at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. From a contemporary position, she generates a discourse that is built from nods to anthropology, history, activism, landscape and memory. He has participated in different exhibitions at ARTIUM, the Montehermoso Azkuna Zentroa Alhóndiga Cultural Center, the BilbaoArte Foundation, the Spanish Academy in Rome, the San Fernando Academy, the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, MUSAC, HUARTE, CAB or the San Telmo Museum, among others. At the moment she works with Talka Galería in the production and visualization of some of her latest projects.

Miriam Isasi est titulaire d’un doctorat en beaux-arts de l’EHU/UPV, complétant son séjour international à l’UNAM au Mexique. Elle a participé à des programmes de résidence à l’Académie d’Espagne à Rome (Italie), Artist x Artist (Cuba), Fondation Bilbaoarte, Kunsthaus à Bregenz (Autriche), EAS-EZE Bitamine Faktoria (Irún-Buenos Aires), MA Studio à Pékin et à l’Université nationale autonome du Mexique. D’un point de vue contemporain, elle génère un discours qui se construit à partir de clins d’œil à l’anthropologie, l’histoire, l’activisme, le paysage et la mémoire. Elle a participé à différentes expositions à ARTIUM, au Centre culturel Montehermoso Azkuna Zentroa Alhóndiga, à la Fondation BilbaoArte, à l’Académie espagnole de Rome, à l’Académie San Fernando, au Musée Guggenheim de Bilbao, au MUSAC, à HUARTE, au CAB ou au Musée San Telmo, parmi autres. Elle travaille actuellement avec Talka Galería dans la production et la visualisation de certains de ses derniers projets.

Miriam Isasi has been working for several years now with shrapnel she collects from sites where battles were fought during the Spanish Civil War. By melting this material, she creates pieces that she then incorporates into different installations, alongside photographs, videos and performances. In this case, shrapnel collected from the site of the Battle of Legutio has been turned into a horseshoe that, nailed to the hoof of a white horse, treads the streets of the city of Vitoria. Through this action, captured in photographic format, the artist suggests different interpretations, in all of which the icon of a white horse, symbol of freedom and power, is predominant.

Miriam Isasi travaille depuis quelques années avec des éclats d’obus qu’elle ramasse sur les lieux où se déroulèrent les batailles de la guerre civile. En fondant ce matériau, elle crée des pièces qu’elle intègre à différentes installations aux côtés de photos, vidéos ou performances. Ici, les éclats d’obus issus de la bataille de Legutio sont devenus un fer à cheval qui, cloué au sabot d’un cheval blanc, déambule dans les rues de la ville de Vitoria. Grâce à cette action reprise en photos, l’artiste suggère différentes lectures où domine le symbole du cheval blanc, à la fois de liberté et de pouvoir.
