Your donation to this gift category opens doors for more people of all ages and abilities to start and keep engaged with hands-on music making opportunities. It enables The NAMM Foundation to support music service organizations around the world in their work to expand access, equity and opportunity to music education for tens of thousands of individuals each year, and to provide innovative music education and hands-on music making programs.
MUSIC MAKING GRANTS
The NAMM Foundation currently supports over twenty domestic and international music service organizations that provide access to music education. This year, following a rigorous vetting process, a total of $482,500 was awarded to twenty-three programs (seventeen domestic and six international) each strengthening access to music making for people of all ages across various communities and demographics.
MUSEUM OF MAKING MUSIC
The NAMM Museum of Making Music, a signature program of The NAMM Foundation and located in NAMM’s headquarters in Carlsbad, California, explores and celebrates the people and products that bring music to our world. Through unique world class exhibitions, innovative live performances, and immersive educational programming, the Museum is committed to helping everyone find—or recognize—their own unique place in the world of making music.
COMMUNITY MUSIC MAKING
Community Music Making initiatives promote and support the far-reaching benefits of making music across the lifespan. Activities include global music making and learning events that are part of Make Music Day (June 21) and Make Music Winter (December 21) spreading the joys and deep impact of making music.

A donor advised fund is a flexible giving vehicle that offers immediate tax benefits and allows donors to support charities that are aligned with The NAMM Foundation mission to advance music learning and making opportunities for people of all ages and abilities. There is a $50,000 giving minimum to establish a donor advised fund.
MEMORIAL GIFTS & TRIBUTE DONATIONS
Making a Memorial Gift or Tribute Donation to The NAMM Foundation is a meaningful way to honor or remember a loved one. All gifts create a lasting impact and allow the foundation to continue its mission.*
A MEMORIAL GIFT remembers and recognizes the legacy of a loved one who has passed. If you would like to direct family and friends to make gifts to The NAMM Foundation, we offer this suggested wording for an obituary: In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to The NAMM Foundation in memory of {deceased name}, online at nammfoundation.org/donate, or mailed to: NAMM Foundation, 5790 Armada Drive, Carlsbad, CA 92008.
A TRIBUTE DONATION is a wonderful way to commemorate a special occasion such as a birthday, wedding, graduation, holiday, retirement, or other celebrations and accomplishments.
*Memorials and tributes over $250 will include a notification card that can be sent to a designated contact. The monetary amount of the gift remains confidential.

Best Communities for Music Education (BCME) is a signature program of The NAMM Foundation that nationally recognizes and celebrates schools and school districts for their commitment to music education.
WILLIAM R. GARD MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship assists students who pursue education and careers in the music products industry. Named for the former NAMM Executive Vice President, the award is available to NAMM Member employees who attend college full time.
BERNICE ASH MEMORIAL AWARD
This award honors the remarkable life and legacy of Bernice Ash, a music retail visionary who spearheaded the expansion of the Sam Ash family-owned music stores, broadening inventory for the chain across multiple categories.
NAMM PRESIDENT’S INNOVATION AWARD
This award honors college students who are leaders in music. Winners are dedicated to pursuing a career in any area of music, be it performance, education, media, sound/audio engineering, event technology, production, administration, management, marketing, or product creation and innovation. A cash award supports travel to The NAMM Show.
COLLEGE MUSIC SOCIETY FELLOWS PROGRAM
This program supports college music faculty who are developing music business curricula in music, pro-audio, and event technology. A cash award supports travel to The NAMM Show to participate in professional development sessions, networking receptions, special events, and opportunities to preview the latest musical instruments, products, and tools.

GenNext at The NAMM Show is a powerful collaboration between The NAMM Foundation and The College Music Society that offers music career and professional development sessions for college music faculty and students together with access to the latest musical instruments, products and tools to enhance their careers and classrooms.
MUSIC EDUCATION DAYS AT THE NAMM SHOW
Music Education Days at The NAMM Show provides music teachers, school administrators, and community leaders with informative sessions, inspiring performances, and the opportunity to preview the latest instruments, products, and tools relevant to today’s music classrooms. A recent multi-year initiative called Million More Music Makers focuses Music Education Days programming on teacher training on specific instrument groups. By engaging 500 teachers each year, we can impact 2,500,000 lives through music (250 students per year over a 20-year career).
MUSIC RESEARCH GRANTS
The NAMM Foundation is a global leader in funding scientific research on the benefits—mental, physical, developmental, and emotional—of making music. Peer-reviewed and published outcomes inform public policy and advocacy as well as the general public about the evidence-based impact of music making. Your gift makes it possible to provide funding for projects such as the work conducted by Dr. Nina Kraus at the Northwestern Auditory Neuroscience Laboratory.
