Winter is approaching, and its getting colder. We love to see many great costumes and dressups at the Goa parties in the Summer, and we would love to see you dressing up our winter! Lets see more psychedelic, lets see more colour and art! Let your hair down! We want more energy, more fun, and definitely more costumes and style! We will have our camera ready!

Der Winter kommt bald und es wird immer kälter. Wir haben sie genossen, all die ganzen Partykostüme, die uns die Festivals verschönert haben. Lasst uns auch im Winter psychedelisch kleiden. Wir wollen mehr Energie, mehr Spaß, mehr Goakostüme, mehr Style, denn wir werden unsere Kamera dabei haben!

So, what is the verdict for German or English? Germany is where mushroom magazine began, and where we used to mainly distribute. This is now changing and the distribution will be more international in future. On page 4 and 5 you can read about the results of the survey. About the half of the readers would like to have a pure english mushroom. Less then 20% preferring solely german mushroom. So we are extending the English component, but there will still be the important stuff in German too! For future mushrooms: mushroom magazine has been crazy busy editing, translating, promoting, advertising and working our arses off to bring a new excitement to mushroom! We are bringing you more interesting reads, more djs, artists and partys, a bigger variety of gifts and gadgets, costumes and clothes, and as much of the psychedelic trance scene we can find to bring to you! So stay tuned for some big changes, lots of colour and some amazing parties!

So, was ist denn jetzt nun endlich das Ergebnis unserer Englisch/Deutsch Umfrage? Deutschland ist ja nun das Land, in dem der mushroom begann und wo wir auch die größte Verbreitung haben. Das verändert sich von Monat zu Monat, denn die Distribution wird künftig mehr und mehr internationaler. Auf Seite 4 und 5 liest Du über die Ergebnisse unserer Umfrage. Nur so viel vorweg: Etwa die Hälfte unserer Leser möchten gerne einen rein englisches Heft, weniger als 20% ausschliesslich ein rein deutsches mushrom magazine. Also wird es einen Kompromiss geben. Wir erweitern künftig die englische Komponente, werden aber immer noch wichtige deutschsprachige und bilinguale Inhalte haben. Für zukünftige Hefte haben wir uns nun viel vorgenommen. Wir arbeiten gerade hart an neuen spannenden mushroom Themen: Mehr DJs, Artists und Events, mehr Schnick Schnack und Party Gadgets, Trance Klamotten und und und. Einfach mehr von allem was die Psychedelic Trance Szene zu bieten hat. Also sei bereit für ein paar Veränderungen.

Do you speak English? The new mushroom language concept Cultural differences might be a factor but the biggest problem, that causes trouble among the human community, is a communicative one. A language problem, to be more precise. The fatal about it: It can’t be solved by reasonable discussion only, in which language should that take place? Well, in English which is the world language! the one or the other might reply now. But unfortunately not all the people on this planet do really speak this “world language”… Seen in front this background, it has been a tricky question when we asked you about the linguistic future of mushroom in our last issue.

The majority of 48% of our survey participants decided for only English articles. While evaluating the data, it was interesting to notice that there were also lots of German native speakers who voted so. In their comments they agreed with their non-German speaking fellows: On the one hand we are an international scene and therefore it is essential to speak an international language as well. And on the other hand, there is simply more space for content in the articles if they are written in one language only. But still this does not obscure the fact that mushroom has its roots in Germany and is mainly spread in German-speaking countries. And of course there are people who do not speak English. But only a minority of 17% voted for a pure German magazine. 28% plead for a bilingual solution- among them also quite some non-German native speakers who nevertheless understood the problem. A linguistic distinction between local and global content, which addresses different audiences, was regarded to be a sensible compromise by many. And that‘s the plan. Global content mainly in english - local content mainly in german.

your comments As a natively English speaking person I guess that I have a preference to having mushroom in an English-only format, however sometimes I like to sit there and try and develop my German speaking skills by reading an article in English, and looking at the same thing in German! (Damo) English works for everyone on the globe, it‘s THE contact language, so the content should be in English and cover international information. In this way everyone can access it and at the same time, the content is not limited to a few lines. (Ano) Go only English. It‘s better for everyone to get more information in each magazine. Everyone understands English! (Rafaela) I like the idea of keeping the artist features in English and the rest (local stuff!) in German. (Cloudy, German-speaking) Since the mushroom is bilingual there is nearly no information left. Hope it will become better again if there is more space in only one language. (Tobi) We are an international scene and if Mushroom Mag wants to be the organ for it, then switch to English! (Boom Shankar, German-speaking) Be consequent: Our music is international. And English is the international language! (Oliver) So, I have to / can learn more English. In my opinion it‘s a good idea! Sprichst Du Englisch? Das neue mushroom Sprachkonzept

Eure Kommentare Mehr Information ist ein wichtiger Punkt, aber man muss ja vielleicht nicht auf alle deutschen Texte verzichten, zumal unsere Sprache viele kreative Wortschöpfungen ermöglicht! (Daniel) I versteh than zwar not all the text but I kann try to verbesser my English! (Kim) Lieber ausführlichere Texte, dafür aber nur in einer Sprache. Da der Mushroom doch auch sehr weit in der Welt herumkommt, sollte er nur noch in Englisch sein. (Armin) Alles bilingual frisst auf alle Fälle zu viel Platz! (Schizo) Wenn das Heft nur in Englisch geschrieben ist, kann ich leider nichts lesen und dann kann ich mit dem Heft nichts mehr anfangen. (Mike) Ich liebe meine Muttersprache Deutsch sehr, jedoch denke ich, dass in eine Szene wie diese, die globaler nicht sein kann, auch eine gemeinsame Sprache gehört. Und die ist nun mal Englisch. (Heike) Ich finde Deutsch zwar angenehmer zum lesen, jedoch habt ihr recht: English ist wohl der internationalere Weg. Und wenn man auf manchen Partys nette Menschen kennen lernen möchte, dann geht das auch nur in Englisch. (Sven) Ich finde, es sollte bilingual sein. Warum sollen die Leser benachteiligt werden, die kein Englisch bzw. Deutsch können? (Mel) Finde das derzeitige System super, deutsch liest sich angenehmer, alles muss aber auch nicht übersetzt sein wenn man dadurch mehr Platz hat. (Flo)

Kulturelle Unterschiede hin oder her: Das vermutlich größte Problem, welches das Zusammenleben der Menschen auf dieser Welt stört, ist ein kommunikatives. Ein Sprachproblem, um genau zu sein. Das fatale daran: Es kann nicht einfach aus der Welt diskutiert werden, wie sollte dies denn auch geschehen? In Englisch, das ist doch die Weltsprache! mag nun der eine oder die andere sagen. Nur leider spricht keineswegs jeder diese „Weltsprache“... Ziemlich kniffelig war von daher unsere Frage in der letzten Ausgabe, wie wir im mushroom sprachtechnisch weiter verfahren sollen. Mit 48% hat sich die Mehrheit unserer Umfrageteilnehmer für rein englischsprachige Artikel ausgesprochen. Interessant war bei der Auswertung der Daten zu sehen, dass unter denen, die diese Wahl getroffen haben, auch sehr viele deutsche Muttersprachler waren. In ihren Kommentaren kristallisierten sich folgende Gründe heraus: Zum einen wurde immer wieder die Internationalität unserer Szene und vor diesem Hintergrund die Notwendigkeit einer internationalen Sprache betont. Zum anderen wurde in vielen Fällen erkannt, dass mehr Platz für Inhalt zur Verfügung

steht, wenn dieser nur in einer Sprache verfasst ist. Das täuscht natürlich nicht darüber hinweg, dass der mushroom im deutschsprachigen Raum seine Wurzeln und nach wie vor seine größte Verbreitung hat und es hier schlichtweg auch Menschen gibt, die kein Englisch sprechen. Dennoch stimmte mit 17% nur eine Minderheit für ein rein deutschsprachiges Heft. 28% plädierten dagegen für eine bilinguale Lösungdarunter auch einige nicht-deutsche Muttersprachler, die jedoch die beschriebene Problematik dennoch verstehen. Eine sprachliche Unterscheidung von lokalem und internationalem Inhalt, der sich ja an verschiedene Publika richtet, wurde von vielen als vernünftiger Kompromiss anerkannt. Und in etwa so wird auch unsere zukünftige Verfahrensweise aussehen.

Symphonix The Usual Suspects

Musikalische Seitensprünge in Richtung Techno / Electro sparen sich die beiden für ihre verschiedenen anderen Projekte: Auf dem bereits dritten Album „The Usual Suspects“ präsentieren die Symphonix Brüder treibenden, positiven und unverkennbar psychedelischen Progressive Trance, der den Sommer in den Ohren und im Kopf weiter leben lässt. Als offizielle Release Party ist am 13.11. die Trancefusion im Hamburger Edelfettwerk angesetzt, eine Veranstaltung die sicher ebenso zu den üblichen Verdächtigen feinster Trance Kultur gehört wie das neue Album. Is it possible to be too innovative? For sure a tricky question, once you start thinking about it. Concerning a music genre that represents innovation already in its name, it seems like being innovative became a tightrope act these days. More and more Progressive Trance producers push the borders of this style further than before, and as a result they deliver sounds that are considered to be “Nu School” or “Techno” by some or even “Minimal” by others . Anyway, whoever has been to a festival during the past years will know that this process frequently causes discussions about the music at Trance parties! Seen in front of this background, the brothers Sirko and Stephan are true tightrope act masters. Not really big news actually, since these two dudes are undoubtedly among the busiest protagonists of the Progressive scene! Looking back on an impressive amount of experience as DJs, producers, label owners and promoters, of course they watched the evolution of the scene very carefully from

these positions during the past years. This is what makes their project Symphonix one of “The Usual Suspects” when it comes to high-quality Progressive Trance. Their third studio album, (which has just been released), includes positive, bouncy and deep Progressive Trance, as advanced and modern as it can be – but still not “too innovative”. It is probably this ability that is responsible for the worldwide popularity of Symphonix: To be up-to-date but also promoting the original Progressive Trance sound. Symphonix work together in the studio to fine-tune all their tracks until both of them are 100% satisfied. The brothers frequently employed their Virus TI as well as their Moog Little Phatty for the recent album, beside lots of plugins and virtual gear of course. The results are presented live at Trancefusion, the official “The Usual Suspects” release party at Hamburg’s Edelfettwerk on November 13th. An event that is sure to be a killer!

The Symphonix brothers keep up the original Progressive Trance vibe: Their third studio album comes along classically bouncy, uplifting and distinctly psychedelic. Alternative Control Riding on the flow

Since they teamed up in 2003, Goran Toprek and Rastko Palikuca became prime examples for the growing strength and importance of the Serbian dance music scene, for the Psy Trance scene in particular. Representing a stimulating, melodic yet simultaneously deep sound, their project Alternative Control constantly gained reputation among the international Trance crowd. Just recently their second album has been released on Dacru Records, bearing the meaningful name Alternating Current.

“We feel that the tracks on our new album are all experiments in different directions. The repertoire is maybe going to be a slightly strange experience for the rather conservative Psy Trance audience, being different in concept from all the Full On music being produced today in such vast quantity”, one of the two Belgrade based guys reflects on the recent work. Indeed, Alternating Current keeps what its name promises: From the first track, the variety of music on this album is remarkable. From classical, deep fullon titles to progressive house flavoured funk explosions! Including light melodies that hover above wobbling bass and break structures, just about everything can be heard! A stimulating flow is the result and therefore far away from the frontiers of minimalism or boredom. “Being objective about the quality of our work is the most important part when we are in the studio together. Judging ourselves objectively usually helps to make our music less flawed”, Rastko explains. It is clear this method worked out pretty well again! The new album is dedicated to the ingenious Serbian inventor Nikola Tesla by the way, who also combined very different ideas and principles to create literally “highly energetic” productions.

Minimal Criminal minimal is psy

They know how to get also those going, who normally regard “minimal” music to be a bad influence at Psy Trance parties. But of course the sound of Minimal Criminal is far away from the apathetic boredom that is associated with this term by some. Their powerful, dark tunes represent an own style that is stimulating and psychedelic as it can be but still refreshing different from the contemporary Full On or Dark productions. Exciting news accordingly that Bruno Souza De Lima and Valerio Zhyin just presented their long awaited debut album “Minimus Maleficarum” on Cosmic Conspiracy Records. “Our name is a salute to the minimal Psy Trance music from the late 90s, early 00s. Some of our music follows the principles of minimalism. We use

simple themes which evolve with repetition. The music never gets too full. Synth sounds and FX have their own spaces in the track. An advantage of making the music slower and giving it more space is that it becomes more heavy and crunchy by doing so”, one of the two Brazilians explains. Pursuing a retro vibe, many vintage synths can be heard on the new album. Another characteristic is the extensive usage of samples taken from movies of the 50s, 60s and 70s: Quite every track includes one as kind of main theme and therefore tells its own, profound story. Movie titles like »Reefer Madness«, »Tobor, the Great« or »Alice in Acidland« proof that though the sound of Minimal Criminal is rather dark and strong, it never loses a humorous wink. And which role do psychedelic drugs play in this process? An interview with Amanda Sage. Before you grab brush, pen & co: Do you have special ideas and feelings? It’s this passion that almost forces me to paint. Like a well that is about to burst! I used to love to create when I was questioning the suffering of the world. Now I imagine my work being medicine for healing, understanding that Art is an amazing catalyst for change, and instead of focusing on the reflection of all the pain in the world, I try and see beauty and harmony. And by seeking it in myself and sharing it with the world, I feel it is the most authentic gift I can give. I hope to inspire millions to appreciate the uniqueness of this experience called life and to awaken the creative power within. What does “psychedelic” or “visionary” art mean particularly for

you: Can you please give us your definition? I wouldn‘t consider them one in the same. Psychedelic art is either something that was inspired by a psychedelic experience, or is designed to inspire, remind or enhance ‚reality‘ by viewing it. This art can even induce a psychedelic experience by merely viewing it. ‘Visionary’ describes something of an almost prophetic/clairvoyant nature and should not necessarily define a specific movement in art. It is the artist sharing her/his subjective vision mixed with a message for humanity. When the expression of psychedelic and visionary art blend... patterns, language, metaphors and profound experience come to the forefront - expanding our perception and understanding of reality. So how do you put this principle to practice? Are there any special “calculations”, is there any special planning you make to achieve this

personal formula of psychedelic art? The primary goal that I have in creating is to be of service to what I am doing. Ernst Fuchs words remind me to ‘listen to the painting’...releasing fear, control and the rational mind switches on autopilot and my feeling directs. One can then open up the doors to the akashic records, to the memory of all that is... I believe you must be secure in your medium; if your method of expression is paint, be diligent in practice, know how the relationship between light and dark, colour and form work, creating harmonies and illusions. Let us get to a practical example, your painting “The Birth Of Venus”. Can you describe the birth of this work, the very first moment it came to your mind? I created this piece for collectors who wanted a painting of mine. They had no idea what they would be getting,

and I originally had no intention to paint Venus... The feeling led me to her. When I painted this I was in a very empowered space, wanting to push the boundaries of my skill and expression. Can you give us a short description of your further work steps up to the completion? Tell us about your intentions concerning single elements of the work! I paint generally in a version of the Misch Technique taught by Ernst Fuchs. I often begin with washes of acrylic paint, painted very much as if I were using watercolour, then I build up the first layer of whites (light) either in acrylic, casein or self made egg tempera. Then painting in layers of oil, switching back to building up the light with tempera. This painting has about 9 layers of evolution. The content in this piece is subtle, pointing towards a feeling of ascension, of awakening. The symbol of the egg is a prominent form in my work. That wherefrom everything is born, the seed, the most reduced organic form. A portal of infinite possibilities. What is the connection of psychedelic arts and psychedelic drugs, regarding the artist as well as the audience who is watching it? The psychedelic experience is completely individual. One can journey into a piece of art on many levels, in

an enhanced state, deep communication is possible and should be carefully dealt with and honoured. All psychedelic art need not be viewed while in that state of awareness, as some work is done to just get it out, and some is meant for a deeper dialog with the audience. What was the biggest compliment given to you as a painter? That my paintings are reminiscent of music! :) Psychedelische und visionäre Malerei sind für Amanda Sage nicht unbedingt das gleiche: Während psychedelische Werke entweder durch ein psychedelisches Erlebnis inspiriert wurden oder aber die gewohnte Alltagsrealität in ähnlicher Weise erweitern wollen, ist „visionär“ für sie ein viel weiter gesteckter Begriff, der ein geradezu prophetisches Moment beinhaltet und nicht unbedingt eine bestimmte Stilrichtung der Kunst beschreibt. Die Verbindung dieser beiden Ansätze, sie ist es, die Malerei einen ganz besonders tiefen Ausdruck verleiht, der die Gesamtauffassung der Realität verändern kann. Amanda setzt diesen Ansatz auf ihre ganz eigene Weise um: Sie arbeitet sehr stark intuitionsgeleitet, ist sich

aber aufgrund ihrer langjährigen Erfahrung ebenfalls über den hohen Wert technischer Fertigkeiten bewusst, die als Grundlage für die Umsetzung ihrer Ideen dienen. Für das hier abgebildete Werk, „Die Geburt der Venus“, verwendete sie eine Form der Misch Technik, die sie von ihrem Mentor Ernst Fuchs erlernt hat. Insgesamt verfügt das Bild über 9 verschiedene Farb- und Lichtebenen, die nacheinander aufgetragen wurden. Auf diese Weise fügen sie sich ineinander aber durchdringen sich auch immer wieder gegenseitig, wodurch ein sehr subtiler, buchstäblich tiefgründiger Eindruck entsteht. Und dies nicht nur in gewissen erweiterten Bewusstseinszuständen: Das Verhältnis von psychedelischer Kunst und psychedelischen Drogen ist für die Künstlerin nämlich ambivalent. Während einige Werke gerade im nüchternen Zustand einen besonders psychedelischen Charakter besitzen, sind andere für einen tiefgründigen Dialog mit dem Betrachter ausgelegt, der von gewissen Erweiterungszuständen begünstigt wird. And I was not the only one: Those spontaneous waves of blissful cheering, rising from thousands of throats and spreading across kilometres through the warm evening air represent an impressing proof for that. A post-modern, psychedelic fairytale that came true: These words describe the experience of this year’s Boom festival better than the usual description open air festival. The extent, the elegance and beauty of the contemporary

Intellectual Scene Our scene has a high intellectual potential as could be seen at Boom festival: Not only the dance floors were always busy but also the countless lectures and workshops about various subjects from the fields of politics, philosophy, arts and esotericism were well-attended and received good feedback. For more and more festival-goers personal education represents an interesting activity beside music and dancing. Auf der Boom zeigte sich einmal mehr das hohe intellektuelle Potential unserer Szene: Nicht nur die Dancefloors, sondern auch die zahllosen Vorträge und Workshops zu ganz unterschiedlichen politischen, philosophischen, künstlerischen und esoterischen Themen waren stets sehr gut besucht und erhielten gutes Feedback. Die persönliche Fortbildung wird offenbar für immer mehr Festivalbesucher ein attraktiver Mehrwert neben Musik und Tanz.

In a fascinating way, Boom managed to integrate also those aspects of psychedelic and visionary culture into a festival, which are not directly connected with music, dance and the ambience that goes with them. Although the event always supported this approach- a real quantum leap was achieved this year. For instance, just the architecture of the Drop Zone, a combination of theatre, lecture and workshop space surrounded by an art gallery, was an aesthetic masterpiece. The works presented within the semicircular designed gallery revealed their stunning beauty best during the night, when illuminated by a sophisticated lighting concept. The rustic but at the

But beside all those big, obvious things like the exceptionally magnificent amalgamation of architecture and decoration, it’s been the countless small details that made Boom so special. Like a pack of dinosaurs wandering around on the venue, uttering primal screams every now and then. And at various places a mysterious person was spotted, hovering a foot above the ground and reproducing sounds from outer space with a laptop… But beside all these performances by groups like the Amsterdam Balloon Company also the audience itself was definitely an attraction: Rarely I saw that much beautiful and charismatic people from all over the world in one place.

Although Boom required huge amounts of energy and resources in general, the festival still managed to integrate many ecologic aspects of sustainability into its concept in a convincing way. On the one hand, local natural resources like clay and cane were used for the constructions. On the other hand, the bamboo being used extensively this year came only from woods that are monitored under sustainable standards. Also the principle of recycling was taken very seriously, concerning the re-usage of material for the construction of the festival as well as the disposal of waste that was produced during the event. The concept of the sanitary facilities was specially interesting and successful. Many visitors regarded the large distance between the camping / parking area and the actual festival as a serious problem. One hour of walking, one-way only, was quite usual and became a rather unpleasant experience under the hot summer sun of Portugal. The promoters realized this problem and already promised a solution for the next festival.

A piece of art: The Groovy Beach Fllor

In jenen Tagen im August wäre ich beinahe drauf gegangen. An einer Überdosis Spaß. Und ich war nicht der einzige: Jene spontanen Wellen von freudigem Jubel, die aus tausenden Kehlen über viele Kilometer durch die warme Abendluft brandeten, stellen einen beindruckenden Beweis hierfür dar. Ein wahr gewordenes, postmodernes, psychedelisches Märchen: Mit diesen Worten lässt sich die Erfahrung der diesjährigen Boom wohl besser beschreiben als mit der sonst üblichen Bezeichnung Open Air Festival. Denn das Ausmaß, die Eleganz und Schönheit, in der sich die zeitgenössische psychedelische Kultur an den Ufern jenes Stausees im portugiesischen Hinterland präsentierte, ging weit über das hinaus, was ansonsten im Rahmen solcher Unternehmungen üblich ist. Auf faszinierende Weise ist es der Boom gelungen, auch Aspekte psychedelischer und visionärer Kultur in ein Festival zu integrieren, die nicht unmittelbar mit Musik, Tanz und dem dazugehörigen Drumherum zusammenhängen. Zwar hat die Veranstaltung diesen Ansatz schon immer verfolgt- jedoch

Psy versus Techno The music programme on Boom’s main floor was appreciated by the visitors only partially. This fact was illustrated on signs made of paper and even on the back of some people, where expressions of annoyance like “Save the Psy Trance!” or “Minimal is not Psy – Don’t fuck my drop!” could be read during the daytime. These statements represent an ongoing development, namely a literally progressive division. For the following reason: Most of the artists, whose gigs caused the reactions just described, are an integral part of our scene since many years and enjoy quite some reputation in this role. Or should one say: enjoyed reputation? Their sound does not represent some peripheral phenomenon but the musical development of our scene. Seen in front of this background, it is an interesting fact that the promoters stated in their first newsletter after Boom that they had booked some artists for the Dance Temple who “were not playing adequate music for a psychedelic dance floor”. Das Musikprogramm des Boom Mainfloors wurde von den Besuchern nur teilweise wertgeschätzt. Illustriert wurde dieser Sachverhalt auf Papptafeln und den Rücken einiger Gäste. Dort waren nämlich während des Tages Unmutsbekundungen wie „Save the Psy Trance!“ oder „Minimal is not Psy – Dont fuck my drop!“ zu lesen. Hierin äußert sich eine nach wie vor aktuelle Entwicklung, in der sich eine zunehmende Spaltung abzeichnet. Denn der Grund für die besagten Reaktionen waren die Auftritte einiger Künstler, die nicht erst seit gestern Teil unserer Szene sind und hier einen guten Namen genießen. Oder sollte man sagen: genossen haben? Ihr Sound repräsentiert keineswegs ein Randphänomen sondern die musikalische Entwicklung unserer Szene. Bezeichnend ist vor diesem Hintergrund, dass die Veranstalter in ihrem ersten Newsletter nach der Boom einräumten, für den Dance Temple einige Künstler gebucht zu haben, deren Musik „nicht adäquat für einen Psychedelic Trance Floor“ gewesen seii.

The Drop Zone: intellectual input

ist in diesem Jahr definitiv ein Quantensprung gelungen. So war allein die Architektur der Drop Zone, eine Kombination aus Theater und Vortragsbereich mit angegliederter Kunstgalerie, ein ästhetisches Meisterwerk. Das, was es in den organischen Bambuswölbungen der im Halbrund gehaltenen Galerie zu sehen gab, entwickelte sich insbesondere Nachts, bei ausgeklügelter Beleuchtung, zu einer visuellen Attraktion von sinnesbetörender Schönheit. Das rustikale und gleichzeitig extrem stilvolle Ambiente dieses Ortes, umspült von den Vibes des Festivals- ich kann mir kaum einen besseren Ort für die Ausstellung psychedelischer und visionärer Kunst vorstellen. Doch neben den großen, augenscheinlichen Dingen wie der durchweg atemberauenden Verschmelzung von Architektur und Dekoration, waren es auch die zahlreichen Kleinigkeiten, die es zu entdecken gab. So streifte regelmäßig ein Rudel Dinosaurier von Urschreien begleitet übers Gelände. Und an verschiedenen Orten wurde eine myste-

Obwohl die Boom bezüglich der für sie erforderlichen Energie und Ressourcen einen gewaltigen Aufwand bedeutete und sie in dieser Hinsicht keineswegs eine neutrale Nullnummer darstellt, konnte das Festival doch sehr überzeugend viele ökologische Aspekte der Nachhaltigkeit in sein Konzept integrieren. So wurden für die geschaffenen Bauten einerseits lokale, natürliche Rohstoffe wie Lehm und Stroh verwendet. Andererseits stammte der in diesem Jahr sehr umfangreich eingesetzte Bambus ausschließlich aus Wäldern, deren Nachhaltigkeit überwacht wird. Und auch das Prinzip des Recycling wurde sehr ernst genommen, sowohl was das Material für den Bau anging, als auch jenes, dass im Laufe des Festivals übrig blieb, Stichwort: Sanitäre Anlagen. Als deutliches Manko wurde von vielen Besuchern die große Distanz des Camping- bzw. Parkplatzes zum eigentlichen Festivalbereich erlebt. Eine Stunde Fußmarsch, in eine Richtung

riöse, über dem Boden schwebende Person gesichtet, die mit ihrem Laptop Klänge aus fremden Welten reproduzierte… Neben all diesen Performances, für die sich u.a. die Amsterdam Balloon Company verantwortlich zeichnete, stellte aber auch schlicht und einfach das Publikum der Boom eine echte Attraktion dar: Selten habe ich so viele schöne pic: Roberdo und charismatische Menschen aus allen Ecken der Welt auf einem Fleck gesehen.

Recycling

Considerable 86475 kg materials have been recycled for Boom festival. For instance, the Healing was made from 90% recycled materials, the impressing Groovy Beach construction from 80%. Considering the mass of visitors, it seems almost unbelievable that Boom managed to come along with barley any chemical toilets. The organic toilets spread throughout the whole venue make a natural composting of human wastes possible. Beachtliche 86475 kg Material wurden für die Boom wiederverwertet. So bestand die Healing Area zu 90% aus recyceltem Material, die beindruckende Konstruktion des Groovy Beach zu 80%. Bedenkt man die Masse der Besucher, erscheint es fast unglaublich, dass die Boom fast vollständig ohne Chemieklos auskam. Die eingesetzten organischen Toiletten erlauben ein natürliches Kompostieren und somit ein natürliches Recycling der menschlichen Abfälle.

Th 30.12. – Sa 01.01., Porrentruy, Switzerland The Swiss Psy Trance scene enjoys a similarly good reputation throughout the world like the penknives, the chocolate or the cheese from the small alpine state do. For this reason also the announcement of the biggest indoor event of the nation bodes something quite spectacular. Actually this announcement is only half news since Timegate represents a specially spectacular possibility to spend the change of the year since already quite some time. Frequently half of the audience arrives from outside Switzerland which causes a unique, really international flair during the event. Just like last year, the portal to an exciting parallel world will be installed in an indoor tennis court. The efforts made for this purpose remind an open air event: The decoration and lighting concept, that have been designed especially for this party and been matched with the environment of the vast hall, will be put to practice within one and a half weeks. An electrifying countdown of the last seconds of the old year will be realized by synchronized light control. The multicolour laser show being employed could also be set up on a summer open air acre, as well as the excellent sound system: 40.000 Watts deliver a really proper portion of bounce for a NYE party! Beside the main floor, where i.a. Aphid Moon, Avalon and Hyperfrequencies will be performing, there is also a Progressive & Minimal floor during the second night, presenting Motion Drive and Astronivo, for instance. So if you like it big, coloured, loud and Swiss for the change of the year, the appropriate NYE party should be found by now!

Die Schweizer Psy Trance Szene genießt in aller Welt einen ähnlich guten Ruf wie die Taschenmesser, die Schokolade oder der Käse aus dem kleinen Alpenstaat. Aus diesem Grund weckt auch die Ankündigung der größten Indoorveranstaltung des Landes den Verdacht auf Spektakuläres. Genau genommen wurde dieser Verdacht in der Vergangenheit bereits mehrfach bestätigt, denn die Timegate gilt nicht erst seit gestern als besonders spektakuläre Möglichkeit, ins jeweils neue Jahr zu rutschen. So findet sich die Hälfte des Publikums regelmäßig von außerhalb der Schweiz ein, was der Veranstaltung ein sehr spezielles, geradezu internationales Flair verleiht. Wie schon beim letzten Mal, wird das Portal zu einer erstaunlichen Parallelwelt in einer weitläufigen Tennishalle installiert. Der hierfür betriebene Aufwand erinnert an große Freiluftveranstaltungen: In anderthalbwöchiger

Arbeit wird ein auf die Örtlichkeit abgestimmtes, eigens konstruiertes Dekorations- und Beleuchtungskonzept umgesetzt. Letzteres wird zum Jahreswechsel für einen elektrisierenden Countdown synchronisiert.
