And it gives me greater pleasure to introduce the re-launch of the classic magazine. It‘s not just the size that has been revamped, it‘s been given a major system upgrade: contemporary content that covers a wide gamut of subjects presented in a fresh stimulating style. Genau, du hast die Analogie zu just diesem Heft bemerkt...welches die Mitglieder der psychedelischen Familie seit über 20 Jahren verbindet. INTRO DMT: The Teleportation Compound DMT or Dimethyltryptamine’s got a solid rep for being a hardcore drug which hurls the user into alternative dimensions; a trait that makes even seasoned trippers do a deep double-think. This powerful hallucinogenic member of the tryptamine family occurs naturally in plants, animals and humans. Ironically, most governments classify it as Schedule 1 drug. We’re all natural but illegal drug-mules. Handcuff yourself. Plants containing the chemical have been used in shamanic rituals for millennia. Despite evidence supporting its spiritual uses, science sadly remains oblivious to its esoteric nature. Depending on the kind of trip the

DMT resonate with you? Better be aware of DMT‘s potential. It‘s not for nothing that Rätsch stresses each individuals‘ responsibility and don’t forget RajaRam’s ‚reference‘ (read the interview). Facing death or ego-death might not be what you seek. Maybe you‘d rather dream on. At least you cannot prevent this from happening because as many researchers think, no matter what, DMT is our dream director. And maybe that‘s fine for most. As Nickles holds, you must walk alone through the door offered by psychedelics - no one else can do this for you. Either you cope with it or you don‘t. Recreational use may be fun, even during a party. But drinking and preparing the brew and then puking seems odd, also mind the potency - hours of effects. Inhalation of extracted DMT seems the way to go, with effects lasting up to 30 minutes. Main question is: What is the intention behind the use? Seitdem entschieden sich viele, die ekligen Nebenwirkungen des heftigen psychedelischen Gebräus, das Kotzen, zu vermeiden. Christian Rätsch bewertet Ayahuasca ohnehin als keine »sanfte Medizin«, es ist „drastisch und extrem“, „knallharte Pharmakologie“.

Trend zum Inhalieren. Dabei kann die Wirkung bis zu 30 Minuten anhalten, hingegen beim Trinken – nach dem Übergeben – mindestens 3 Stunden. Konfrontiert mit einer Substanz, die die „Seele sichtbar macht“ kann man Berichte über DMT Gebrauch nicht übersehen, die Menschen überwältigten (lest Erowids Erfahrungsgewölbe erowid.org, the dmt-nexus.me oder ayahuasca-info.com). “Ich hatte viel dazu gelesen und dachte, ich sei vorbereitet, ich war es nicht. Your readers know, the miracle is in our midst. Psychedelics turn on people’s antennae for God consciousness. In the wake of our psychedelic journeys, my wife and I got the vision we needed to build a new kind of sacred space to house art that was based on the psychedelic mystical experience.

Luca: A psychedelic trip transformed your life, could you share the extent of the impact it had on you? Alex: The impact was a total reformatting of my psychic hard-drive. Back in 1975 I was a depressed 21 year old artist on my way to suicide. One morning I prayed to a God I did not believe in to show me a sign that I should continue my meaningless existence. Within 24 hours I had taken LSD for the firs time and met the love of my life, the artist Allyson Grey. I went from an atheist to a mystic in a day.

So we co-founded a church and are building Entheon at CoSM, Chapel of Sacred Mirrors a retreat and cultural center in upstate New York, about an hour and a half away from New York City. The Entheon is a novel project. What are its goals?

Entheon means a place to discover the God within, it will be the Sanctuary of Visionary Art at CoSM. Entering this elaborately sculpted building, the Narthex Gallery will feature annual rotating exhibitions of the worldwide visionary art movement, popular throughout festival culture. Entheon is a community based Art project. Entering this building surrounded with huge ornamental sculptures of interconnected faces bearing symbols of humanity’s wisdom traditions will generate the metaphor of symbolically walking into God’s head. The three-story high Entheon, now under construction, will exhibit the Sacred Mirrors, and the CoSM collection and include many unique psychedelic relics, like Albert Hofmann’s glasses, worn on April 19, 1943, the day the good doctor took the world’s first LSD trip, the lens through which he saw reality transform.

The visions one sees in the mystic state are elaborate and ornate, I am only trying to point to these impossible-to-describe dimensions with a crude stick, hair and greasy pigment. have journeyed there invariably understand. The definition of spirituality varies from soul to soul. What does it mean to you? Spirit, God, Primordial Transcendental awareness is the ground of all being and existence,

yet is also outside of time. Spirit is infinite love and is the basis of creation. We are the scintilla, the living sparks of the cosmic creator. Evolution is in our hands as our creative life. Our true nature is timeless. I love all the great traditions, each has unique gifts with which to make God contact. You’ve called Ayahuasca, the “Green Jesus” can you tell us why? I’ve called ayahuasca the Green Mary too, because the Santo Daime and UDV churches are

syncretic Christian churches. 2000 years ago, the first coming was when Jesus demonstrated the Divinity of Humanity, the second coming is NOW when the Green Jesus and Mary demonstrate the Divinity of Nature. If we do not live by that message and save the life-web, humanity will self-destruct. Do you consider DMT to be the ‘spirit molecule’? DMT opens us to the Divine Imagination, the only place to find God. Once you find God or Spirit within, then you see God everywhere, in everything, life becomes meaningful and filled with joyful work for God’s sake. We should not idolize the molecules or we will become idol-worshippers and miss the main event, God loves you and wants you to have an awesome life co-creating together. Who/what is your muse? Allyson Grey is my muse and my favorite artist and friend for many lifetimes. We celebrate 40 years together in love this year. I am so lucky. We have continued to journey throughout our time together and have both been inspired by the sacramental psychedelics. We believe the inevitable consequence of love is the building of temples. What other projects are you currently working on? I am always painting and imagining sculptures and architecture for our grounds here at CoSM. 1941 marked the year, when Raja Ram, then known as Ronald Rothfield landed into the 3-D plane. His deep passion for music led him to become one of the founding members of a psychedelic rock band, called Quintessence. His interest in psychedelic trance blossomed after attending a party in Goa, and a few years later, along with Simon Posford, he created Shpongle. He has also collaborated with Riktam & Bansi (aka GMS) and Chicago to form 1200 Micrograms. In 1994, along with Graham Wood and Ian St. Paul, he started TIP Records. Tip World was founded in 1999 by him and Rikki Rokkit.

ROBERDO FRAGT SICH: Rumgehampel oder Erleuchtungs-Beihilfe? Es war auf der Boom 2012, während einer Podiumsdiskussion zum Thema „20 Jahre Goa Trance“. Zum Ende hin ging es um die Bühnenshow, die visuelle Arbeit des DJs. Szene-Veteran Tristan sagte sinngemäß: „Jo, das ist eine prima Sache. Wenn da einer steht, der nur an den Knöpfen dreht, dann ist das vielleicht nicht die beste Inspiration für ein psychedelisches Erlebnis.“ Warum? Ist die Mucke allein nicht mehr gut genug? Wieviel Rumge hampel braucht‘s für die Erleuchtung? Offensichtlich eine ganze Menge. Dieser Eindruck entsteht zumindest, wenn man sich dieser Tage einen Festival-Floor ansieht. Stage miming or accessory to enlightenment? It was at Boom 2012, during the panel discussion about „20 years of Goa Trance“. Towards the end they talked about stage appearance, about the visual aspects of being a DJ. Scene veteran Tristan said something like this: „Yeah, that‘s a good thing. If there‘s only a guy turning the knobs, that‘s probably not the greatest inspiration for a psychedelic experience.“ Why? Is the music not good enough any more? How much miming do we need to reach enlightenment? Let’s be honest: We all had some good laughs with the class clown back in school.

‘A Renaissance’

Tristan Cooke’s name cannot be segregated from the psy-scene, his spirited music has kept the trance-floors alive for over a decade. Here he gives us his perspective on Goa, although he confesses, “I kind of veered from the point a little I’m afraid...Might have been something to do with that pipe I had after breakfast! Anyway I thought I’d write about something that’s inspiring me...”

“Goa... Roaring down the road on a single cylinder classic Enfield Bullet 500cc, the wind in the hair (no helmets required), the palm trees silhouetted against the sun-soaked sky, freak-energy oozing from every pore of this place... it’s still only 9am and it’s my turn to do the school run!!! Somehow I don’t get this same feeling doing the same routine in the rain in London in March. There’s a party happening every single night this week, promo parties for trance events in Europe like the Sonica, Ozora, Modem and Universo Parallelo, there’s birthday bashes, and there’s beach-shack party nights-like Shiva Valley, Curlies, Monkey Valley, Chronicle and 9 Bar to name just a few.... It’s like living in a festival, or perhaps the festivals are trying to recreate this environment: being surrounded by non-stop music and dancing; a mecca for freaks, trancers, yogis, beach bums and backpackers, designers and dealers, traders and tourists, lost souls, searching souls, found-it souls and all manner of alternative lifestylers that you can imagine; and all bound by one thing: Freedom. The kind of freedom I haven’t found anywhere else- the heady mix of spirituality and hedonism, the tolerance of the wonderful local people (Goa was a Portuguese colony so there is a mix of religions) and of course the affordability compared to the West. This is the antidote to the European model of urban living- a permanent holiday compared to the constant grind of work and bills; a place for mind-expansion rather than the pressure to conform; being surrounded by friends and like-minded people rather than being separated into our smallest

31 divisible unit so that we can consume the most; in other words the Freedom here with a Capital F to do or more importantly BE what you want... Something I get asked a lot is what keeps me inspired to keep producing and performing psychedelic trance? Coming to Goa reinforces why – Trying to recreate for others the experiences I had here 20 or so years ago hearing psychedelic dance music on LSD. That moment on the dance floor when everybody connects, where the energetic whole is greater than the sum of its parts, a sense of being and becoming pure energy; you can tangibly feel things ‘come together’; an electricity, a cosmic connection to something indescribable. No wonder somebody coined it ‘Spiritual Raving’. I had been partying to different types of dance music before I heard Goa Trance, but it was here that I had my epiphany, a sense of ‘coming home’ and I knew I had found my proverbial kindred spirit. The tools at my disposal to make this music have changed drastically over time, now my whole studio is in my laptop, digital technology (for better or worse) taking over the analogue world, the microchip allowing me to make the sounds in my head into a reality coming out of the speakers for people to enjoy... it just gets better!! Goa did have some seasons off the radar, but it’s had a massive renaissance and now it is as important to our scene and community as it’s ever been. verlorene Seelen, suchende Seelen, Seelen, die es fanden und alle Spielarten des alternativen Lebens, die du dir vorstellen kannst; und alle vereint von einer Sache: Freiheit. Die Art von Freiheit habe ich nirgends sonst gefunden – der aufregende Mix von Spiritualität und Hedonismus, die Toleranz der wundervollen lokalen Menschen (Goa war eine portugiesische Kolonie, daher existiert ein Religionsmix) und natürlich die Erschwinglichkeit im Vergleich zum Westen. Das ist das Gegengift zum europäischen Modell des städtischen Lebens – ein ständiger Urlaub verglichen mit der konstanten Plackerei von Arbeit und Rechnungen; ein Ort der Bewusstseinserweiterung statt des Anpassungsdrucks; umgeben von Freunden und ähnlich-strukturierten Leuten statt runtergebrochen in die kleinste Einheit, sodass wir am meisten konsumieren; mit anderen Worten hier besteht FREIHEIT zu tun oder zu sein, was du willst...

Etwas, was ich oft gefragt werde, ist, was treibt mich weiter an zu Produzieren und psychedelischen Trance darzubieten? Nach Goa zu kommen, bestärkt mich darin – zu versuchen, für andere meine Erlebnisse, die ich hier in 20 Jahren oder so beim Hören psychedelischer Tanzmusik auf LSD hatte, nacherlebbar zu machen. Diesen Moment auf dem Tanzfläche, wenn sich alle verbinden, wo das energetische Ganze grösser ist als die Summe der Teile, ein Bewusstsein des Seins und purer Energie; du kannst greifbar fühlen, wie die Dinge ‘zusammen kommen’; eine Elektrizität, eine kosmische Verbindung zu etwas Unbeschreiblichem. Kein Wunder, dass irgendjemand es ‘spirituelles raven’ bezeichnet hat. Ich hatte zu verschiedenen Musikstilen gefeiert bevor ich zum Goa Trance stiess, erst hier hatte ich eine Erleuchtung, ein Bewusstsein des ‘Nachhausekommens’ und wusste, ich hatte meine sprichwörtlichen Geistesverwandten gefunden. Die Werkzeuge, die mir zur Verfügung stehen, um diese Musik zu machen, haben sich über die Zeit drastisch verändert, jetzt ist meine ganzes Studio in meinem Laptop, digitale Technik (mit guten und schlechten Seiten) übernimmt die analoge Welt, der Mikrochip gestattet mir, die Klänge in meinem Kopf zur Freude der Leute in eine Realität aus den Lautsprechern zu übersetzen ... und es wird besser!! Goa hatte einige Gründe abseits des Radars, aber erlebte eine gewaltige Wiedergeburt und ist jetzt so wichtig für unsere Szene und Gemeinschaft wie es immer war. Neon festival in Turkey is a new one but looking very good. Transylvaliens in Romania will be our first time in that country. PLUR in Greece, and of course our own open air Nova‘s Incident in Belgium is maybe still one of the most exciting ones for us. Apart from that there‘s 2 new EPs in the pipeline, one with U-Recken and one with Spirit Architect, plus a remix for the upcoming Electric Universe remix album after summer.

A conceptual work? Bert: Doing a conceptual album like our second one wasn‘t the real goal this time, there is however a clear theme musically. Throughout our albums, we‘ve always stood for a ‚back to the roots‘ approach. On this one we made a strong connection with the orient, through the use of ethnic instruments and especially the female chants. These elements return throughout the album and help create the Samadhi vibe, guiding you through your inward journey.

Apart from this approach, any special inspiration during the production? We started finishing the album around the time my wife gave birth to our son, which really energized me. Never in the past have I had this much inspiration, it‘s truly a life changing event. Compared with previous albums, I‘m absolutely certain this one is the best. Musically, I think it‘s the most classic sounding DigiCult album since ‚Out Of This World‘. Barely legal: A 18-year old talent from Israel sends ripples of blissful excitement through the world of Psytrance.

Apparently Solar Tech Records dug out yet another Psytrance prodigy: Vandeta is only 18 years old, yet the Israeli already enjoys full support and encouragement from international jetset artists like Zyce, Lyctum, Darma or Atacama. In consequence, his debut album ‘Solar System’ is one of the highly anticipated works of 2015. The youngster delivers a remarkably original blend of driving percussion grooves, psychedelic sound textures and highly atmospheric synthesizer leads. He‘s feasting on music: 2 – 4 hours of fresh sound. Every single day. A diet that makes Sebastian Kos a remarkably up-to-date and versatile DJ. Also a good reason why the Swiss is gaining more and more popularity at the moment.

Father of a Psychedelically Family Back in the day, music selection used to be the most important job of a DJ. In face of the ever growing torrent of new sound out there, it seems like this skill is rapidly becoming increasingly important. Swiss DJ Sebastian Kos is a good example: His sets are highly eclectic, they derive ideas, styles, and taste from an extremely broad and diverse range of Psytrance and its subgenres. It‘s no surprise that he is often booked to play during the prime time of a party, as he seems to have a very special knack for playing the right tune at the right moment. Speaking of right tunes: There‘s always a fair share of unreleased tracks in his collection. Spinning records since 1997, he gained great technical precision, frequently playing in the tropical party hotspots of Koh Phangan, Koh Tao and Bangkok for the last 12 years added to his sound a feeling of internationality and acidic sexiness. In this respect Sebastian is a perfect match for Antu Records, which he currently represents as a label DJ.

One impressive example for Sebastian‘s skill is Summer Never Ends Festival 2013, where he hit the spot and sent the 10,000 party heads on the main floor to a most blissful state of mass euphoria. Listening to new music in his home studio for 2 – 4 hours every day and managing an increasingly tight booking schedule is still not enough to keep him occupied. Since 2013 Sebastian Kos is organizing both Psychedelically Family and 7sd parties. The next edition has been announced for April, it will be a joint venture with Xerks Music and will take place in Switzerland. Well, it keeps up to its name: „Goabase Party Finder“. The idea is to simply use your smartphone to find all parties in your local surroundings. The App knows your current location. Then you get a selection of nearby events, and of course you can see the full line up, location, etc. You can use Google Maps and navigation to get to any of these parties, so you won‘t get lost any more... However, we did not implement too many features. Less is more, everything should be as straightforward and easy as possible. The App requires only minimal access rights, and even if you have your GPS switched off you can choose manually from a list of cities. We are currently working with version 0.9 – it‘s still a beta-version, but in five languages German, English, Spanish, Italian, Dutch. We would add a list to remember events, and an alert for new events in your region.

BMSS Records is a European record label focused on the entire spectrum of the psychedelic trance bubble. Their goal is to use their label as a mirror to the always evolving psytrance scene. The music lineup speaks for itself. Sir Henry Hot will shoot huge flames into the sky. The earthy vibe of the festival venue will be taken up in a Healing area, plus an extensive range of eco products. S.U.N. Festival disappeared from the European festival map – but it didn‘t. The name of the event is different this year, and so is the radically new concept. A chat with Peter from the team. Roberdo: Solar United Natives - Looks like a new festival, but it isn‘t. What happened to the name „S.U.N. Festival“? Peter: Somebody wanted to take away the name S.U.N. Festival by registering it, and because of the bureaucratic system it takes „only“ 1 year to get it back. Until then we can neither use the expression „S.U.N. Festival“ nor our Facebook page that has over 110.000 fans. However, the S.U.N. letters stand for „Solar United Natives“, so we simply switched to the long version. Also, we are not only a festival any more: the brand is used by a non-profit foundation and their community projects, which was the original spirit: The Sun cannot be a property of one - it shines for everyone. Ouch. Any other changes, behind the scenes? There are many changes, as we switched from a company to a non-profit organization with several community projects. After last year‘s financial crash we learnt how important it is to keep a natural growth and to focus on our values rather than taking part in the race. That means no more super-giga-productions - but an organic and sustainable growth. The money is only spent according to the wishes of the community and our financial limits.

The Goa scene is not about events and their crowds: It‘s one community having different events. The new website is more about this worldwide community - It will function as a forum for voting on different green projects, programs, artists, installations, and it’s your choice to delegate whatever you feel is most important. The finances will work according to a transparent principle, where everyone knows exactly what the money was spent on. We are open for other festivals, gatherings, and communities to be represented on our homepage. This is an experiment in social evolution. A new perspective on democracy, crowd-funding and hopefully the next step towards a truly conscious existence. What stays the same is our focus on high-quality music. So what can we expect from the gathering in 2015? You may look forward to the beautiful land of Csobánkapuszta, which is really special in many ways. It‘s beautiful with the various green areas and the lake, it has an ancient history, and it‘s located in a hidden region. The whole valley is very exciting. From this year, the gatherings are ‚members-only‘ events. So there will be no tickets at the gates, the number of visitors is limited. We believe this will help to create a more nature-friendly gathering, that is safe and secure and has a decent infrastructure with enough water, showers, and toilets. The actual event is based on the collective Kundalini lifting idea, where a larger group of people can go through an active Chakra meditation connected to the 7 colours, 7 planets, 7 harmonic sounds during 7 days. We are experimenting with organic structures planted last year, and we are using 3D printers to create zoetrope living sculptures. On your website, you use the term „new consciousness community“ instead of „festival“ - What‘s that all about?

Die Crew des S.U.N. Festivals ärgert sich derzeit mit einem Rechtsstreit um den Namen des Events herum, er darf für ein Jahr nicht verwendet werden. Deshalb nennt sich das Projekt nun Solar United Natives. Weitaus dramatischere Veränderung: Aus dem Festival ist eine Non-Profit Organisation geworden, eine Community, die auf den Werten von digitaler Demokratie, Transparenz und Crowd Funding basiert. Wer dieses Jahr dabei sein möchte, kann kein Ticket kaufen, sondern muss Mitglied werden – und hat so die Möglichkeit aktiv mitzubestimmen. Die neue Webseite soll dafür als Forum dienen und ist sogar für andere Festivals und Projekte offen. Bei all diesen Veränderungen bleibt doch auch einiges gleich: So sind hinter den Kulissen nach wie vor viele erstklassige Labels dabei, so dass man sich wohl wieder auf ein ganz wunderbares Musikprogramm freuen darf. You can also hear Psytrance from time to time on one of the countless dance floors. Mostly the music varies between Techno, House, Electro and Minimal. Everywhere you meet naked and costumed folks, colorful bicycles, aliens and you may visit orgy tents and experience incredibly terrific interactive installations. Totally anti American and yet deeply American. On Saturday, the man, who looks different every year, burns down - just like the temple that is flared on Sunday evening.
