SMED – Scrivere a Mano nell'Era Digitale, the Italy-based non-profit association for Handwriting in the Digital Age, promotes and supports the study and practice of handwriting. SMED was founded in February 2015. SMED endorses the Scrittura Corsiva project, which aims to improve the teaching of handwriting to children within a playful and artistic approach. Italics have been chosen as a model and the alphabet is divided into groups of letters that have similar basic shapes.
