President’s Note

Hello key clubbers!

Happy summer, I hope you’re all having a great and relaxing time. I would like to say thank you to everyone who participated in our events so far and attended our meeting. I appreciate you all. There would be no club without y’all. We hope to put out more events for everyone to enjoy and we are slowly trying to have more in person events. On that note we had our first in person summer event where we helped our school’s band at their firework stand. Thank you again for those who attended, I loved seeing y’all in person. I am excited to meet everyone of you! I will always be here if you have any questions, so please feel free to reach out to me. -Kaylee San <3

Hi Hi! I hope you’re all doing well and staying safe during this summer! Make sure to stay hydrated and remember to get vaccinated if you can. The summer heat is getting intense so make sure to keep cool. On another note, this is the second ever newsletter I’ve made and it’s safe to say that I’m getting better at this. If you have any ideas that you’d like to see in the next newsletter, you can always contact me at my email miki.lam981@stu.emuhsd.org or through Instagram @mtviewkeyclub! I’m looking forward to seeing you all in person in future events and until then, stay safe!! -Miki Lam

Club Meeting

Plant the Peace Rice Race

Members went to the plantthepeace.org website and for every ten questions they answered about various topics that was right, the organization plants a tree! By downloading the app Charity Miles and going on walks or runs, money would be donated to charity. The more you walked or run, the more money would be donated.

Officers during the meeting explained what how to become an official Key Clubber and its benefit along with giving updates on the club. Playing on the Rice Race app is similar to Flappy Bird except you collect rice grains and for every grain earned, money is donated.

What is Pride Month? Pride Month is celebrated every June and commemorates the pursuit of equal justice for the LGBTQ+ community. It happens in June because police raided a gay bar called Stonewall Inn in NYC on June 28, 1969. It sparked many riots by LGBTQ+ persons.

Pride Month is celebrated around the world by millions. The month-long celebrations can include pride parades, parties, marches, shows, rallies, workshops, and many more!
