Hola Amigos! Your child will find themselves immersed in Spanish learning the language the way true native learners learn. We will sing songs, have stories, movement, movies, art, music, and so much more but all immersed in Spanish! Small interpersonal groups, and native speaking teachers will help guide you and/or your child towards Spanish mastery as efficiently as possible. Siblings discount: 10% discount for each additional sibling after the first child enrolls. Can be done online or in person at The Community House.

Ages: 7-14 years old

Your child will have a blast designing video games and animations in this exciting STEM program. Our innovative approach to coding is sure to spark your child’s interest in computer science, using a kid-friendly, intuitive, block-based programming system called Scratch, developed by the MIT Media Lab. The fun filled curriculum hones important skills related to problem solving, attention to detail, creativity, storytelling and critical thinking. Class topics include conditional statements, cloning, variables, loops, control structure, object-oriented design concepts and data structures. Students must come with their own tablet/laptop device.

Holiday Table Manners & Etiquette

Ages: 7-11 years old

During this holiday-themed class, we will practice essential dining etiquette skills through a combination of handson practice, role-playing, and interactive lessons. A light meal will accompany entertaining games and activities. The learning objectives are basic dining etiquette, mealtime conversation, table setting and social skills.

Social Media Etiquette for Tweens & Teens

Ages: 11-16 years old

This course will prepare teenagers for online discussions, debates, conversations, posting, cyber-bullying and the like! Participants will understand how to navigate social media platforms with courtesy, politeness and an understanding of the laws in Illinois. Internet terms will be defined and discussed with slide presentations and Q&A sessions! Keep your teen informed and safe while engaged with social media! (SnapChat, Instagram, Twitter, Tik-Tok, Facebook, Twitch, FaceTime, Discord, Zoom, etc...)

Teen Self Defense WorkshopStrictly Self Defense

Ages: 11-17 years old

Middle school and high school students will participate in a series of discussions and be introduced to basic physical self-defense skills and techniques. Training will focus on three key areas: Mindset, Skill Set and Planning. Specific topics may include Situational Awareness, Bystander Intervention, Consent, Healthy Relationships, Simple Effective Strikes, How to Escape Common Grabs, and much more. All topics will be presented at an age-appropriate level for the children in attendance. The purpose of the training is to empower the attendees by providing them with life skills, which will allow them to confidently transition into new situations, such as starting a job, driving, and going off to college. We realize that teens are busy and hope that this will be a good outlet for them to burn some energy, release stress and learn a life skill, in a fun environment.
