Q&A
WHAT IS THE MOUNT WASHINGTON VALLEY TRAILS ASSOCIATION? The MWVTA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the creation of a sustainable off-road non-motorized trail network in the Mount Washington Valley. HOW WAS THE REC PATH ROUTE CHOSEN? It was chosen because of its central location, its access to the most populous and utilized segment of our valley, its access to other trail systems, its parking options, its moderate terrain, and the availability of a contiguous corridor. WHY PAVEMENT? This is the best surface for an entry path that people of all ages and abilities can use safely and confidently, and it will aid in ADA compliance. WHAT IS THE SCHEDULE FOR CONSTRUCTION? Plans are to break ground in May of 2019 with completion scheduled for the following spring. WHY SUPPORT THIS CAMPAIGN? This is a tremendous amenity for our valley that will provide sustainable outdoor opportunities to residents and visitors alike, enhancing our local economy while fostering a commitment to the environment and to the preservation of our beautiful resources. Gifts to this project will be gifts to all who know and love this Valley.
Thank You!

CASE FOR SUPPORT
The North Conway Recreation and Alternative Transportation Path, a non-motorized, entry level, multipurpose recreation path, is an amenity long overdue for our community.
A dedicated group of community-minded citizens has been working toward this goal since 2006.
Concepts and routes have been evaluated and finalized through communicating with the public, potential funders and pertinent governing bodies. The 2.8-mile path can be accessed from Hemlock Lane at the entrance to the Redstone Quarry, the Thompson Road trailhead, and Cranmore Mountain Fitness Center. Each location is less than a mile from Route 16 and has public parking. The North Conway Recreation and Alternative Transportation Path will provide access to trails near Pudding Pond and Green Hills Preserve, as well as access to schools, businesses and community services. The path will promote a healthy outdoor lifestyle, showcase the natural beauty of our region, reduce air polluting emissions, mitigate traffic congestion, encourage conservation, and help to attract families and ecotourism to the Valley.
The paved path is designed to accommodate walkers, hikers, joggers, wheelchairs, cyclists, strollers, roller bladers, cross country skiers, snowshoers, etc.
Funding for building and maintaining the path will be generated by a capital campaign and grants with a goal of $2.3 million.
