Many parts of the shore were simply unable to welcome their traditional summer visitors as they focused on rebuilding their communities. Despite the unprecedented damage caused by Superstorm Sandy, a June washout and dire predictions about the shore’s tourism economy, New Jersey’s 2013 summer vacation season exceeded expectations as it was able to grow and expand in several key areas.
