60 years of the Tamar Road Bridge
In 1961, the counties of Cornwall and Devon saw a new and improved connection opened to the public. The existing ferry service had struggled to keep up with the growing popularity and accessibility of the motor car, leading to the commission of the Tamar Road Bridge.
