Get There by Train There’s nothing quite like sitting on a train watching the world go by and when you travel by train in Cornwall you’re usually treated to some beautiful scenery to gaze away at. So, if you fancy exploring Cornwall a little differently here are myCornwall’s Recommended scenic train journeys! St Erth - St Ives (£3.00pp for one-way) Chug along side miles of golden sand and crystal blue seas whilst winding your way through picturesque valleys on your way to St Ives.

Truro - Falmouth Docks (£4.20pp for one-way) As Cornwall’s only city, Truro receives a lot of attention for the variety of shops and culture it supplies. However, Falmouth is a busy town that offers a fascinating maritime history, as well as being host to a beautiful marina and museum. Looe - Lizkeard (£4.20pp for one-way) With views of the woodland opening onto the estuary, this half hour journey offers any birdwatchers the chance to spot rare finds along the river. Perfect for nature lovers and families alike. Par - Newquay (£4.70pp for one-way) Want to cut out the traffic jams and expensive parking? Get on the train at Par and get into Newquay in style. After travelling through the beautiful Luxulyan Valley and across the wild Goss Moor, this train journey is a breeze.

EXPERIENCE: WILD FUTURES’ MONKEY SANCTUARY Support a local charity and visit Wild Futures Monkey Sanctuary, offering a safe haven for monkeys since 1964. Nestled into the side of the south Cornish coast between Looe and Seaton, Wild Futures’ Monkey Sanctuary cares for a range of different species of rescued monkeys, giving visitors an intimate insight to a working sanctuary and a chance to meet some of its amazing monkey residents and wildlife inhabitants. There’s a lot to do for the whole family who can take a tour of the monkey enclosures and learn about these fascinating animals from the team of expert carers. It’s not just monkeys though! Kids will love the wild play area where they can learn about the environment around them and let off some steam in the playground. Take a gentle stroll around the beautiful Wildlife Gardens and check out the sea view or enjoy a delicious lunch at the Treetop Café. A Cornish Cornwall’s unique soil and geology accompanied by a temperate micro-climate make it a haven for garden lovers. The crisp salt air that blows in from the Atlantic has had a profound impact on the environment, from the bent back trees to the inward leaning dunes. You can spot a lot of Cornwall’s thriving foliage just by walking along the coast paths or through the villages, but here’s a few to keep an eye out for that are particularly special. Thrift or Sea Pink These pretty flowers adorn the south west coastal footpaths in handsome clusters. The straightest and primmest of flowers it’s easy to spot their neat blooms of colour (often called ‘Sea Pink’) that light up the way along the dramatic cliffs. English Stonecrop A white star-like flower that can be found latching onto the dry rocks

Rosemary Although more commonly associated with a far milder climate, Rosemary thrives in Cornwall. Close to St Austell, Bodmin, Eden Project, Lostwithiel, Lanhydrock & Fowey. What better place to enjoy some great Cornish hospitality! There has been an inn on the site since the 12th century serving weary travellers using the ancient track known as the Saint’s Way. Much of the present building still dates from the 12th century although the pub was extended to house the stonemasons who built the charming church of St Brevita, which is located just behind the pub. The pub oozes charm and has a wealth of features you would expect in a historic country pub. Low beamed ceilings, open fireplaces and thick stone walls.
