Jewellery Myrte has always been mad about charms. Actually, any miniature thing, really. But wouldn’t it be lovely to have a necklace with a 3D bird? Not a flat representation of the illustration but an interpretation of the illustration in miniature is what we were looking for. We found a company where a craftsman hand carved the design for us, which was then made into a mold. After these first 5 charms made into necklaces and earrings there will be more. Many many more! We can’t wait to see a branch with the 4 little longtailed titmouse to be honest. But first things first. Let’s take a look at the 5 designs that made the first collection.
Sieraden Myrte is altijd al gek geweest van bedeltjes. En eigenlijk ziet ieder miniatuurtje er schattig en leuk uit. Maar zou het niet allerschattigst zijn om een halsketting met een 3D vogeltje eraan te hebben? Geen platte weergave van de illustratie maar een interpretatie van de tekening in miniatuur, dat was wat we voor ogen hadden. We vonden een bedrijf waar een vakman met de hand een ontwerp sneed voor ons, waar weer een mal van gemaakt werd. Na deze eerste 5 zullen we nog meer volgen. Heel veel als het aan ons ligt! We kunnen niet wachten om de tak met de 4 staartmeesjes als bedeltje te kunnen laten maken. Maar laten we eerst eens naar de eerste 5 ontwerpen kijken waar we oorbellen en halskettingen van gemaakt hebben. Preferred:

Decisions, decisions... There were choices to be made. We chose rhodium plating because it stays on much longer than silver. Rhodium is actually much more noble, meaning there will be no black stains from this material. And because we liked the plated version of the great tit without the enamel too, we decided to add the option to the collection. The logo tag is made from an eco conscious material and when we came to designing the packaging we decided to have it all paper or cardboard to it’s easily recyclable. We make the necklaces in our atelier.

Wikken en wegen... Maar er waren een hoop keuzes die gemaakt moesten worden. We kozen de rhodium plating omdat deze veel langer blijft zitten dan zilver. Rhodium is eigenlijk ook een veel edeler metaal, wat betekent dat de ketting niet zwart wordt. En omdat we de rhodium plated versie van de koolmees zo treffend vonden, besloten we die optie ook toe te voegen aan de collectie. Het naamlabeltje is van een eco-vriendelijk materiaal en toen we de verpakking gingen ontwerpen besloten we natuurlijk dat het van papier en karton moest zijn zodat alles goed te recyclen is. De Koolmees De koolmees, een doorzetter! Dit slimme ding heeft als brutaaltje de halve wereld. Zelfs grote vogels maken haar niet bang. Ze maakt dan even een ommetje om toch weer bij het voer uit te komen waar ze net was weggejaagd. In de wereld van de koolmees verandert veel, en zij past zich aan en bedenkt nog slimmere manieren om ’t leventje te leiden dat zij wil leiden. De koolmees kan je leren dat je je soms moet aanpassen aan de omstandigheden en je je nooit uit ’t veld moet laten slaan. Preferred:

The Kingfisher Happy and pleased with a full belly this little King Fisher sits on a branch overlooking the water. Occasionally he takes a dive in the fresh sparkly water for a bite. I think he just had lunch, because he seems to enjoy a moment of peace. He’s listening to the water and makes sure no one will take his perfect spot. -Myrte
De IJsvogel Blij en tevreden zit dit ijsvogeltje op een tak boven het ruisende water. Lekker fris neemt hij af en toe een duik voor een hapje. Dat heeft hij vast net gedaan, want het lijkt wel alsof hij even een momentje neemt om tot rust te komen. Hij luistert aandachtig naar het water en let goed op dat er niemand zijn plekje in komt pikken. -Myrte

The Blackbird Together with my pal the blackbird I am taking a break from illustrating. He just enjoyed the leftovers of my lunch. And now we’re having a moment together. With some friends you don’t have to speak to know exactly what’s on the other one’s mind. He’s sitting outside, a few meters away from me. I am inside because I don’t have a coat like he does. With one leg up he stretches his wings and rearranges his feathers telling me it’s time to get back to work. He hops off the fence into the yard and gets to work. He’s right, I finish my tea. We’ll meet again, same time – same place, tomorrow.
De Merel Samen met mijn maatje de Merel ben ik even aan het pauzeren. Met sommige vrienden hoef je niet veel te zeggen om precies te weten waar de ander aan denkt. Hij zit buiten, een paar meter van mij vandaan, ik zit binnen omdat ik niet zo’n jas heb als hij heeft. Met een pootje omhoog rekt hij zijn vleugels uit en herschikt zijn veertjes alsof hij me wil vertellen dat het tijd is om aan de slag te gaan. Hij hupst van het hek in de tuin en gaat aan het werk. Ik drink mijn thee op. We zien elkaar dezelfde tijd en plek, morgen weer! Preferred:

De Roodborst Het Roodborstje is beetje een chique dametje. Zelf zal ze het niet toegeven, maar ze gaat gewoon niet om met iemand van buiten gegoede kringen. Oh natuurlijk is ze aardig tegen iedereen die haar ontmoet, dat hoort ook bij een dame. Maar ze zal er niet aan denken om met een kerel zonder klasse uit te gaan. The Material Each necklace is branded modestly with a logo tag near the closure. The length is adjustable with the extension chain. There are 2 lengths available; 40-44 and 76-82cm. The hooks of the earrings have a clasp closure. The material is rhodium plated brass with resin enamel. Due to the vulnerable edges and fragile material our jewellery is not very well suited for children.
Het Materiaal Iedere halsketting heeft een mooi klein labeltje met het logo vlakbij de sluiting. De kettinglengte is aan te passen met het verlengkettinkje. Er zijn 2 lengtes verkrijgbaar; 40-44cm en 76-82cm. De haakjes van de oorbellen hebben een clasp-sluiting. Het materiaal is rhodium plated messing met resin-emaille. Vanwege de kwetsbare randen en het fragiele materiaal zijn onze sieraden niet geschikt voor kinderen.

Branding and packaging The necklaces are packed in tissuepapier. With your order you receive a pretty branded giftbox and a tiny folder with the story of the bird, the brand and care instructions. We advise to keep the jewellery in the gift box so they are protected from other objects. As with all jewellery, we advise that before excersizing, showering or washing the jewellery is taken off because acids, chemicals, chlorines, mineral baths, soaps and salts can taint the plating and the enamel.
Branding en verpakking De halskettingen zijn in vloeipapier verpakt. Bij iedere ketting ontvang je een kartonnen gondeldoosje en een mini-boekje met het verhaaltje van de vogel en informatie over hoe de halsketting en het hangertje het langst mooi blijven. Ons advies is om de sieraden in de geschenkdoosjes te bewaren om ze te beschermen tegen beschadigingen en tijdens het sporten, douchen en wassen af te doen omdat ze niet tegen chemische of zure stoffen zoals bijvoorbeeld zeep, chloor, minerale baden, of zout kunnen zoals de meeste sieraden. Dat is niet zo goed voor de plating en het kan het emaille aantasten.

Display As you would expect lovely jewellery should be presented in a lovely way. We made sure that the experience of gift-giving or buying something for oneself is wonderful from purchase to posession. For a lovely display in the shop or on the dressing table Myrte has designed a display. The display is made of 3mm wallnut finished board. Each is laser cut and features organic shapes that present the jewellery in an original, nature themed way. Display Zoals het hoort moeten mooie sieraden ook mooi gepresenteerd worden. We hebben ervoor gezorgd dat de ervaring om onze sieraden cadeau te doen-of voor jezelf te kopen, prachtig is van de aankoop tot het bezit. Voor een mooie presentatie in de winkel of op de kaptafel heeft Myrte een display ontworpen voor op de toonbank. De display is gemaakt van 3mm walnoot gefineerd board. Ze worden per stuk laser-gesneden in deze prachtige organische vorm. De sieraden worden zo op een originele manier in een natuur thema gepresent.
