LOCATION M AT T E R S Our main 143-acre campus provides spectacular views of Mount Hope Bay, in the town of Bristol, Rhode Island, named the #1 Safest College Town in America. RWU’s unique coastal campus is a living laboratory for our teaching and research in everything from the blue economy to marine science and shellfish aquaculture, architecture and engineering, marine law and wind and renewable energy. With a second urban campus in the capital city of Providence, our locations serve as strategic launchpads where you learn, live, and immerse yourself in research, internships, and career opportunities – and enjoy the boundless cultural offerings and natural beauty of our area.
In addition to our Bristol location, we also have a campus in Providence, RI, home of University College, which offers flexible programs in the trades as well as professional studies. We also host several graduate program classes and our Law School clinics in Providence. All RWU students can get added value out of their experience by embedding a Certificate into their curriculum from University College. Our students take advantage of certificates in areas such as hospitality management, emergency medical training (EMT), and cybersecurity to complement their major and strengthen their resume. The courses for these certificates satisfy electives, so no additional courses or time is required to graduate! 3
Here are some of the ways we use our amazing waterfront: • Classes participate in hands-on lessons directly on the Bay aboard the InVinceable Spirit, our research vessel, to draw water samples, collect soil to analyze trace chemicals and much more. • O ur state-of-the-art shellfish hatchery and tropical fish aquaculture facilities use salt water drawn straight from our shore and provide student opportunities to pioneer research and assist faculty members. • The Marine Affairs Institute at our Law School is a leader in maritime policy and local, regional, national and international experts in marine law issues. • Professors and students use the numerous water view spots across campus for outdoor class sessions and studying. • In between classes, you can also enjoy the bay with free rentals for kayaking or paddle boarding.

WHO WAS ROGER WILLIAMS? At Roger, we draw inspiration from our namesake, the radical and visionary 17th-century leader, Roger Williams. His legacy inspires, informs and guides the ideals to which RWU dedicates our mission and purpose. Knowing a little about our namesake and how it influences our mission will help you understand how the legacy of Roger Williams influences our work on our campuses today. We are a community that invites all voices to the conversation, which makes for vibrant classroom discussions. We value his principles of tolerance, inclusion, civic engagement, sustainability, and love of learning.
7
Roger Williams founded the state of Rhode Island in 1663 as a haven for freedom seekers, and was well-known for his strong beliefs about the separation of church and state and his stances against the confiscation of native lands.
He was chased out of his native England and then, once in America, was exiled a second time from Massachusetts due to his “dangerous opinions” about tolerance, inclusion and individual freedoms.
He is often referred to as the “forgotten founding father” by historians because, nearly a hundred years after his death, his contributions became the foundation for the Declaration of Independence.
See how Roger Williams’ views and visions continue to be at the forefront of what we do.

MORE DOING = MORE LEARNING At Roger, our dynamic learning environment puts the world in our classrooms and labs – and puts you out in the world – giving you the skills and experience to set you apart in your career and your life. Student learning goes beyond listening, reading and taking notes. Finance majors manage real-dollar portfolios in a state-of-the-art trading room; Marine Biology students take care of coral, clownfish, seahorses, shrimp and shellfish in our labs and hatcheries, and collect water samples from the bay aboard our 30-foot research vessel in Mount Hope Bay; Criminal Justice students tour a penitentiary and talk to inmates and staff; and project groups of students work with real local businesses and agencies to help solve their most pressing needs. Experiential learning opportunities are available in every major and are designed to give you the skills that employers seek and prepare you for what the world needs next.
INTERNSHIPS Combine your classroom learning with an internship for powerful results. For students in any major, internships allow you to apply what you’ve learned in the classroom to real-time practice and discover what it’s like to work in the industry among other professionals. Internships often lead to full-time job offers! At Roger, we value hands-on experiences so we don’t limit the number of internships you can have and get college credit for. Students have recently interned at companies and organizations such as the American Lung Association, R.I. Attorney General’s Office, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, NASA, New England Patriots, Pfizer, Inc., R.I. Department of Environmental Management, Raytheon, Walt Disney World, and many more.
RESEARCH Undergraduate research is a distinctive part of a Roger Williams education – and research opportunities can even start in your first year! Whether you’re a Biology major testing new antiamoebic drug candidates, an Architecture major solving design challenges for firms from Boston to New York City, or an Engineering major researching how to improve the way that lasers function, you can dive beneath the surface with research that confronts social and environmental issues. Students have the opportunity to collaborate with faculty, perform independent research in labs and in the field, compete for grant funding, publish papers, present at conferences, compete in regional and national academic challenges, work on community-engaged research projects, and more.
STUDY ABROAD You have the world available to you – literally! Enrich your college experience by studying abroad, with opportunities in more than 27 countries across six continents. Across all our programs, over 35% of RWU students study abroad for a semester, a summer session, a winter term or an academic year, the knowledge and cultural experiences you’ll gain will help you soar in your future careers. Spend a semester in Florence or London or participate in a short-term program in places like Spain, Chile, Ireland, Morocco, Belgium or Belize. Our programs allow you to apply for scholarships and aid, making the cost the same or similar to studying on campus. 9
CARNEGIE COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT CLASSIFICATION Recognizing RWU as a leader in community-engaged work and civic scholarship. RWU is one of only two institutions in Rhode Island, and one of only 359 colleges and universities nationally to hold this classification.

OUR ALUMNI DO AMAZING THINGS TIM BAXTER ’83, former president and CEO of Samsung Electronics North America and former chairman of RWU’s
Board of Trustees, graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing. “This university took a chance on me as a student, offered me many opportunities and then gave me the post-graduation confidence I needed to be successful,” Baxter said.
ELIZABETH LEMASTERS ’10, microbiologist, quality and
compliance specialist, and laboratory manager at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, GA, majored in Chemistry at RWU. “With so much of the education at Roger Williams University, you’re put into positions that take you outside of your comfort zone – not knowing what challenges may arise and having to make decisions on your feet, and that’s excellent preparation for real-world experiences,” LeMasters said. “Roger gave me the foundation to move on to grad school (and my career).”
CARLA PUCHINI ’17, an associate at Goldman Sachs in New York City, NY, majored in Finance at RWU and served as the managing
director of the University’s Center for Advanced Financial Education (CAFE) during her senior year. “A lot of people are looking for experience, and you can’t get experience unless you get a job or do an internship. The RWU Finance program offers both. CAFE replicates industry, so you get real-time, industry-like hands-on experience. That was one of the most beneficial things I’ve done in my entire four years of college.” 15
TONYA HARRIS ‘02, executive director of the Rhode Island
Coalition Against Domestic Violence in Warwick, RI, majored in Criminal Justice at RWU. “Throughout my career I have always been involved in community public awareness matters and issues that affect our state and communities of color in particular. I knew that I wanted to continue on with community work. My experience at Roger Williams helped mold my path into where I am today.”
TODD RECHLER ’93, chief construction and development officer of RXR Realty in New York City, NY, is a member of RWU’s Board
of Trustees.RWU has “superlative programs in construction management, engineering, architecture, business, natural sciences and law,” Rechler said. “As an RWU alum, I know the depth of character the community demands and am proud that RWU will educate the next generation of industry leaders.”
ABIGAIL CLERMONT ’19 ’20M, program control analyst in the NASA SCaN Program in Washington, D.C., majored
in Business Management and then received her MBA in RWU’s 4+1 program. “The entire MBA program was awesome. All the professors were very helpful,” Clermont said. “It definitely helped to take finance classes, accounting, and all the Excel analytics classes at RWU. Those prepared me for my job because I have to make sure things balance in accounting and finance.”
ELIAS CHRISTO ‘18 ‘20M, a designer at Hutker Architects, Inc. in Falmouth, MA, majored in Architecture. “I underestimated how my
professional network would expand from being a student. I was fortunate enough to now have two internships with two different professors, as well as do freelance work for others. In the professional architecture community, Roger Williams has some serious name recognition and firms have always told me that they’ve had great experiences hiring and working with Roger Williams students and alumni.”

COASTAL LIVING at
ROGER
One of the most stunning aspects of campus is that we’re located on the shores of Mt. Hope Bay. Not only do many rooms have a great view of the bay, all residences have green spaces and outside areas where you can soak up the view. And, the very best part of living on campus is the company you will get to share with your friends and neighbors. Our residential communities offer a variety of living options, including single rooms, doubles, triples, and even a few quads and quints. We also have a number of apartment and suitestyle living arrangements for our third and fourth year students. We also offer Living Learning Communities (LLCs) which are small groups of students who live and learn together in communities organized around identity, topics or academic programs. These communities are designed to strengthen the connection between the classroom and the residence hall, and to help in the transition from high school to college.

AN RWU EDUCATION HAS INCREDIBLE VALUE
We want to make an RWU education work for you and your family. By using our Net Price Calculator, you can get a sense of what your cost will be after scholarships and financial aid. This is a more realistic idea versus the “sticker price,” as nearly all RWU students qualify for some type of funding. We offer competitive packages that can include scholarships, grants, work-study, and other types of financial aid. We are committed to working with you to develop a financial pathway to and through the university. We want to make sure that every family feels comfortable and confident in their higher education decision academically, financially, and socially.

TAKE THE NEXT STEPS TO JOIN ROGER! We look for students from a variety of backgrounds, with diverse interests and involvements, who are excited about learning, and ready to discover their highest potential. We are here to support you every step of the way from the very beginning of the admission process, during your time as a student, and throughout your life and career as an alum. WE CARE ABOUT THE WHOLE YOU
We look at each and every piece of information, accomplishment, and involvement - and always in the context of your personal, school, and local environment. The University seeks students with a demonstrated capacity for academic achievement, participation in diverse activities, strength of character and a sense of social responsibility.
WE’VE BEEN TEST-OPTIONAL FOR YEARS
RWU has been test-optional for more than 10 years. This has been a tried-and-true policy for a very long time for us. This means that submission of standardized test scores is optional for admission, as well as for consideration for merit scholarships and the Honors Program.
APPLY USING THE COMMON APPLICATION We strongly encourage you to explore the site (if you haven’t already) to see how easy and streamlined the process is at
www.commonapp.org OR you.rwu.edu/apply

APPLICATION DEADLINES (FALL) Early Action (EA): Regular Decision (RD): November 15 February 1 NOV 15
FEB 1
These application plans are non-binding. You’ll have until May 1 to make your enrollment decision. Applying EA allows you to receive an earlier admission decision (about 4-6 weeks after your app is complete). RD allows more time to prepare your app or ensure senior grades are considered, and decisions are communicated on a rolling basis.
INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
International students - only for whom English is not the primary language or primary language of instruction – are encouraged to submit official English language test scores to receive consideration for the best admission pathway for their level of English proficiency: direct admission, the RWU ESL Bridge Program, or our conditional admission option. As we recognize a wide number of tests from around the world, please check our website to see the approved list. For more information visit rwu.edu/go/international
SPECIAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Certain academic programs require additional materials in the admission review. For example, a portfolio for Architecture is required and for Dance/Performance Studies, there is an audition process.
For a full list of these requirements, please visit: you.rwu.edu/requirements
THE UNIVERSITY HONORS PROGRAM
Academically talented incoming first-year students may apply to the University Honors Program through the Common Application or online at honors.rwu.edu. Students interested in Honors are highly encouraged to apply under our EA application deadline to receive full consideration. For more information visit honors.rwu.edu
